Why don't you go to Starbucks, the pay is above minimum wage, plus tips and the average shift is only 5 hours, and there are benefits. Places like the Gap and Banana Republic also hire teens and pay above minimum wage. Restaurants and fast food are also an option but the pay may not be too good unless you were waiting tables or something..

I left Brooklyn at 17, but all my friends and I had jobs since we were 9 or 10. By far the most common was delivering newspapers. Some of us hooked up with local stores that would tell us when they were getting deliveries and we would show up and help unload the truck for a dollar or two each. I once hooked up with a house painter and helped him on big jobs for a couple of dollars per hour. I also helped the sacristan at my church for a dollar an hour.

okkkk... i don't live in brooklyn not familiar with the area...sorry.
but, try the foodservice business ( i was telling this to another person earlier), food service is not only mcdonalds, try some high class restaurants in the city. you can learn alot about managing guest to managing your stress, cuz restaurants are a tough business! It gets your brain tickin', no matter if you ar ethe hostess, server or bartender or even the manager, everyone has their parts , and duties.
and for a teen, they can be flexible, and as a server you might get good money in tips, especially at a good restaurant.

You're 17. You're not going to get a "good" job. But, you should be able to get one that will pay you money. Since you're under 18, your best bet is going to be food service or retail. I'd reccommend Fazoli's if you have one--it's a good starter job, even if the pay sucks. (Not that it's actually good. Nothing at this level is.)

At 17 with no high school diploma and no work experience, you are either going to have to into retial, fast food, or restaurant. As far as good jobs go you are going to have to go to college or to trade school to get a good job.

Starbucks is rated as one of the best companies to work for in the US. Not only is it a nice environment to work in but they also provide health and other benefits usually reserved for full time employees to their part time employees!

anything that pays is good at 17. you arent going to get an office in the corner or an office at all. you better get used to one of the following phrases "paper or plastic?" "would you like fries with that?" or "can I get that for you in a different size?"
