I handle my job well according to people in the other departments we work with. I am reliable and always trying to help out in our department. When my boss was just the assistant in our department she use to sing my praises, now that she has been promoted she loaths me. I know from other workers that she discusses me in a negative manner to other people openly. She is friendly to most everyone in out department other than me. My uberboss is alway complimenting me on how I handle troubleshooting and other complicated projects, insisting that she never has to worry if the assignment has been given to me. I have made it know that I am not interested in promotion so my boss shouldn't see me as a threat. I do not, however, kiss butt.

Because you are an efficient, educated, and dedicated worker.
You are a threat to her. It's really difficult to have a female boss they are very insecure about them self and are threatened by every other female employee....

Godd luck

Maybe she expects you to "kiss butt" now that she has been promoted. Some people change (for the worse) after getting a little power. It is very unprofessional of her to make negative comments about you and I would discuss that with her behind closed doors. Maybe she is under new pressures with her new job and resents the fact that all these people (uberboss, other departments) are praising you. Try offering her an olive branch and ask if all is going well in her new position and if you can do anything to help her out.

You're not going to be able to figure out what she's thinking. Ask to talk with her privately, perhaps during lunch. Tell her you enjoyed your relationship with her back when she held her former position and say that you sense some tension between you now. Ask if you have done something that offends her and see how she responds.

If it goes well, tell her you respect her and would like to be able to talk with her about the job freely and without feeling this tension. If she resists your approach or shrugs it off as insignificant, then there's nothing you'll be able to do about the relationship. In that case, consider a transfer if she's going to be in that job for at least a year.

Good luck!

well, in corporate america... but kissing can go farther than hard work (trust me I was the #1 rep out of 6,000 reps- for a Fortune 500 company and I was nearly fired... because I'm a strait shooter). That aside she may feel threatened by you PERSONALLY not professionally. Maybe a tad envious of your personality. Either way, I would address it with HR or your underboss.

She is probably just jealous of the work you do! Even though you've made it clear to yourself and others that you do not want a promotion, she probably still thinks that you want it. Just roll with it - she's just green with envy at your work!! Give yourself a pat on the back!! :)

Its probably for being efficient, educated and dedicated. Most of my bosses didn't want anyone around with those qualities.
