Was thinking about a trip to London on advice from friends who have visited. However, a few other people I know have visited have said that a lot of the inhabitants rush everywhere, would walk over you in the street and stare at you on the tube trains, making my trip unpleasant. Is this true? Londonites let me know your thoughts here, I don't wish to sound culturally ignorant.

Hi people. I left Nelson nz, for brisbane australia for a quick work conference last night (just got back to nz).

The city is stupid. What is wrong with it. All the houses are old and wooden and country like, yet there in a city. The traffic is horrendus. I went to the suburb called stones corner. Went for a quick lunch time walk in the park and nearly got mugged. At around 12 i had finished my quick morining conference, and before i got back on the plane to nz, i thought i would go for a drive up to redcliff.

Really nice place, violent people. WHat the hell! My work buddy and I were sitting on the red cliff jetty having some lunch and we got sworn at by some random kids!

People were throwing kids into the water off the edge of the jetty fully clothed and they werent playen around! Heaps of aboriginals drunk in the park. Hobo's drinking in the park. And then to airport to go home and held up in traffic nealy missing the flight!

WHo else hates brisbane!

Since lots of us here are friends already and the Egypt section is like a big family, would it be possible to establish something like a "pay it forward network"?

I mean, as friends we do each other favours when and whichever way we can. Can this be applied on a larger scale to include us all, even those who do not really know each other? Say for example someone needs something, they ask for help and anyone who can help does so, paying it forward, and when his turn comes he receives help too from those who can give it. I think this can be hlpful because not all of us are in the same place, and some are even abroad so this gives greater opportunity for helping others. Though someone may be miles away, if they need something from where I am maybe I can give it to them, and vice versa. I don't know exactly how to organize something like this. Any ideas?

Would you have tips, advice, recommendation of places to visit and hostels (looking for clean, safe, good location) in Sydney, New Zealand and Fiji? In New Zealand I have heard of the magic bus. What is the best accommodation? And what about Fiji? What travel agency have you booked your flight with and what about travel insurance and budget? How did you manage your finances?

Who's done some backpacking and wants to recommend some off the beaten track places to visit? I will be going from August to December 2008. I'd really like to visit places that aren't really touristy (e.g. Paris), places that you kind of just stumble into and are pleasantly suprised. So let me know of anywhere you've discovered on your adventures!
Thanks! :)

Where should my hubby and I go to learn about wine tasting in Napa? We don't want to be intimidated by all the seasoned drinkers who are well versed in wines. We're only there for 4 nights then we head out to visit family in San Francisco.
