Technically part of Virginia or Maryland, I know it's a district, but it must be attatched 2 a state or 2

neither; it is it's own entity, done that way on purpose so no one state could claim power/sovereignty over the Nation by hosting the Capitol.

D.C. is separate and independent from either Virginia or Maryland. Although Southern Maryland and Northern Virginia are considered part of the DC METRO Area since the subway system called METRO connects them all together.

It is technically in neither state. It sits between the two states, although some parts of what people call DC are actually in either state. (Such as Arlington that is in Virginia).

it's neither, it is not a part of a state, except the area of arlington, wich the city gave up to virginia, so it's not a part of washington dc, even though it originally was. but the city it's self is a city without a state.

Legally DC isn't part of either. Geographically it is attached to Maryland.

its indepentant from a state. techically, both MD and VA gave up land for it, but VA took it back, MD has a chunck missing 4 DC. but otherwise, it doesnt even have a seat in congress, whichc is stupid in itself, but no, its not attached 2 any state
