I am going to Europe and will be visiting 3 countries with my US passport. My question is ... will there be separate entry stamps for each country I visit in Europe?, or will I need one stamp for the entire trip?. In other words would they stamp my passport every time I cross borders within Europe?

What countries ?

In EC countries it is usual not to stamp your passport.

When you first arrive in Europe you will have to clear immigration. There is nothing to stop you requesting a stamp, it will be granted. If they ask why you want a stamp tell them it's for the Tax Authority at home so that you can prove you were not in the US.

If your point of arrival is in a Schengen Agreement signatory country and you stay in the Schengen zone your passport will not be checked again. the border crossings are no longer manned.

That depends on which borders/countries, and how you travel.
If you travel overland, within the Schengen area, you will not get stamps, if you travel by air you might, if you travel outside the Schengen area overland you might get checked, but not always.

And some countries do not always stamp passports even when they are checked.
I have not had a stamp in my Dutch passport traveling in Europe in the last 20 years, even when the passport was checked at the borders.

I flew to Europe and didnt get any stamp. not sure why. anyhow i did not have any issues of that, purely in an prolonged time while making use of for visas, faculties, and so on, you are able to desire to tutor all international places you have been to - passport wont help and wont tournament. So keep the boarding passes. P.S. when I traveled to Jamaica and that they stamped incorrect date as get entry to date. issues like this take place.
