I was introduced to the Baha'i faith over a year ago, and although I am not an official Baha'i, their beliefs hold true to me and I try my best to live by them. What you guys think is the most important Baha'i principle?

"Thy Lord hath decreed that ye worship none but Him, and that ye be kind to parents. Whether one or more attain old age in thy life, say not to them a word of contempt, nor repel them, but address them in terms of honor. And out of kindness, lower to them the wing of humility, and say, "my Lord! bestow on them Thy Mercy, even as they cherished me in childhood." (Quran 17: 23,24)

At last, someone has taken these people to task.

http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/10/31/funeral.protest/index.html

These people do not represent Christians or Christian beliefs.

Has anyone here had any experience with these people?

Or is that only expected from those who 'finger point' at others' religion/beliefs, and put down all those who disagree with their OWN ideas and beliefs?

Seems like a silly thing to ask on Y!A, but I was wondering about more of a spiritual/philosophical aspect. Like the meaning of life, for example. I see that question asked a lot on here, yet I've always thought it to be a personal question to find your own answer to. Or another example, why do you personally do the morally right thing instead of the wrong, and what particular experiences did you have to bring about that stance?

For those that like having answers given to them, do you ever delve deeper, maybe try to figure out why that particular answer was given to you, and why it works for you? Do you ever have conflicting viewpoints if you search deeper?

For those that search, do you feel a sense of enlightenment when you reach the end? Or does the answer raise different questions that you feel you need to then solve?

For those of you who do not know him, here's a sneak peek:

In His Own Words:

"What I want to say to Black Americans, and I mean this, I mean this...your ancestors came here against their will in chains. If the Black community does not clean up its act and reign [sic] in its hoodlums...all of you and I mean *all* of you, can leave here the same way. That's right, against your will and in chains. Think we can't do it? Look at the Indians. All we have to do is play cowboys and Indians..see where they are? Well, the time is rapidly approaching where we're going to play cowboys and *******. Get the picture."

Commenting on the North African immigrant riots in France:

"I love the way the media tries to divert attention from who is really doing all this harm: SAVAGE ***** BEASTS! They are allowed into a civilized, white, first-world country. They cannot fit in because they simply do not have the genetic make-up to assimilate properly

Following a Moscow synagogue stabbing of nine Jews:, I just want to take a moment to publicly applaud this action. Almighty God himself has commanded us to be at war with Satan and the spawn of Satan, and this man in Russia exercised that obligation today. I'm proud of him! Congratulations on the STABBING of FILTHY JEWS at a synagogue of Satan, Moscow, Russia!"

Right, i'm Jewish so i'm a little confused by this one.

the other day we had a crazy lady come into our work, she was talking to herself and took a dislike to my colleague so started shouting and preaching at her. she was obviously very religious and told us that she speaks to Jesus every day, she then picked up her mobile phone and 'called' Jesus on it and spoke in tongues down the phone. i asked her what language she was talking in but she said that Jesus said that i was making fun of her (i wasn't) so she wouldn't talk to me anymore. she went on to say that she loves Jesus more than anyone in the world and that Jesus was the greatest ect. i said 'can i ask you a question?' (as i was geniuninly interested in what she was going to say) but Jesus told her that i couldnt ask her a question and that she had to leave, so she did. my question was.. you say you love Jesus more than anyone, do you love him more than God? what do you think shed say and what do you think?

confused...

If you were to die and enter Hell, what do you believe would happen exactly? You can make a short story out of it, for instance. "The car hit me and in an instant moment I saw myself spiraling into a world faster than the speed of light until I suddenly came to a hault on a rocky platform overlooking a dark river. Then after 5 minutes of standing I see something ahead in a rowboat paddling slowly towards me, I was alone ..." etc.... Thanks for answering.

...Pray that God would spare him in the garden. I believe in God and Jesus, But it doesn't make sense to me that Jesus would go to the garden, pray to himself, asking himself to "let this cup pass from me" if it was His will that the crusifixion should happen.
I would like christions to answer this question please. Although I respect everyones beliefes, it not really helpfull to me for Atheists to answer this question saying "God doesn't exist" or "christianity isn't logical".

I don't know if it's true but I heard in China they have a program for helping the elderly and I think it's a good idea.
When you are young you volenteer your time , lets say 2 hours per week to go to an elderly persons home and help them.
Things like washing , ironing ,cleaning, company ect for free.In return ,how ever many hours you donate, when you are old you get that many hours free help.
In Australia our goverment is letting down the elderly it may be the same where you live.
I would like your ideas how to get something like this started.
Is it a good idea?
Should it be church run ? If so religion should not be a concideration as to who gets help and who does not.
Should it be goverment run ?
It would need funding , as it would involve administration .Would you donate or should the goverment at least fund it ? I don't feel you can charge the helper or the one being helped that would defeat the purpose
Can you see it working if run properly ?
Any constructive input welcom

i took my kids out trick or treating and refused to stay home like he wanted. hey the kids have been doing it since they were born im not about to stop it now just got he got "saved".
he went out with his church members holding picket signs and handing out tracks in salem, ma!
hubby came home upset, people really made fun of him.
i told him this would happen.
why wont he listen to me? i dont like the fact that hes "saved". he is evangelical now. im not. since he got saved he has become a boring old poop, only listening to christian music, and reading his bible and going to church. no longer wanting to go dancing, he stopped playing soccer, and basically lost all his friends with that constant preaching he does.
he says God and church are more important than me and kids and actually told me i was going to hell cause i believe in God but not in religion! he gives 10% of our money to his pastor and try to "forbid" me from doing things I've always done.

this happened to anyone else?

So I asked a question about abortion and got a bunch of answers that really didnt even address my point but there was one moron in particular that stuck out.
She stated that men had absolutely no say in the desicion to get an abortion or not and that all men should just butt out. Now I understand the courts perspective on this but are there women out there so shallow that they wouldnt even talk to or discuss it with their partner? I mean c'mon I am all for a womans right to choose but... shouldnt the other half at least be included in the debates?

First, for the non-believer:
Please tell me honestly what it is that bugs you the most about the message of Scripture......or about us in general.

For the believer:
Please tell me what it is that bugs you the most about the other side (the atheist).

All I ask is that this doesn't turn into a mud-slinging, lunch room food fight. Please try to be as honest & gentle as possible.

Thanks to all in advance.
