when it is going against what your taught or what you believe? Like for instance this website right here http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0geu7WFqyVHbQYAoYxXNyoA;_ylu=X3oDMTE4dWM3aW40BHNlYwNzcgRwb3MDMQRjb2xvA2FjMgR2dGlkA0Y5NDFfNzgEbANXUzE-/SIG=12f0huepv/EXP=1193737477/**http%3a//www.blessedquietness.com/journal/housechu/pourri.htm

before/during/after you read it, does make sense to you? As you see I am baptist, the article is about the catholic church system. So after reading it I believe it to be true. But for you catholics does it make it hard for you to read and believe it? Because there are some very good points in there, so what is your take?

The true LORD God made a covenant (promise) to Abraham (Genesis 17:8): “And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.” In Genesis 17:19: “And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.”

Abraham could not believe what God said because he was a hundred years old and Sarah, 90. Not only were they “old and well stricken in age, and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women (menstruation)” (Genesis 18:11).

Did Sarah conceive and bear a son? Yes, indeed. Is it impossible to God to make an old, barren woman to conceive and give birth to a child? No.

These days it seems that all the original meanings of Christmas are becoming more paganized:

i.e

-Evergreen tree
-baubles
-'yule' log
-brewed beverages/mlled wines
-family gathering around light and warmth (Midwinter Solstice)
-The druidic hanging of boughs of ivy, mistletoe, etc
-Turkey feast (replaced the traditional boar's head once turkey was introduced from the Americas)

etc etc.

Don't Christians feel like all these new atheist and pagan additions steal the true meaning of Christmas?

As someone with more pagan/agnostic inclinations than Christian, I personally feel that Yuletide has been hijacked by both Christianity and commercialism, but as Christians, surely you must feel like all the above 'pagan' yuletide things are getting in the way of what you say that the Christmas period is about?

I work with the public on a daily basis and I've seen people wear a big cross on a chain around their neck, then they get pissed off and take the Lord's name in vein. Like "JESUS CHRIST!" in anger. I've also heard and read it every day on Yahoo answers OMG (Oh my God!). Isn't that taking the Lord's name in vein? If they want to display the Cross and are good Christians, I would think that they would want to abide by the 10 Commandments and one of them is "Thou shalt NOT take the Lord's name in vein". Would you be offended by that because they shouldn't be angry with God? Would you say they are hipocrits or would you say they are phony Christians, or would you just accept it and not say anything? I told one guy that it offended me and I'd prefer to hear the 4 letter F word than to take the Lord's name in vein and his reply was "Jesus F_ _ _ _ _ G Christ!". How would you respond to that if you were an avid Christian and it offended you? (I'm a blackjack dealer in a Casino)

My mom was a Jew, and my dad was Catholic.

I was "christened" as a baby in the church of my father. It was called baptism, but how could it be, when I did not do it intentionally???

Then I gave my heart to Jesus in a protestant church and was "baptized' in ful knowledge of what I was doing!

I leave you wth a little story...

A little child in church for the first time watched as the ushers passed the offering plates.

When they neared the pew where he sat, the youngster piped up so that everyone could hear, "Don't pay for me, Daddy. I'm under five."

There is a phrase in the Quran and it goes ...

"Ashrafal-makh-luqaat" ... and it basically means that "man is the noblest of creations..."

I was discussing this with a friend the other day but couldn't find a good answer.

If we are the noblest of creations - does this mean that there is no other life on other planets?

Why would God give us such a HUGE universe if not to explore it? Should we just accept ourselves as the only ones?

I suppose you have to understand Muslim / Islamic teachings to answer this ... or maybe have our own opinions...

But I'd like to know what people's opinions are on the Universe and God.

Thanks!

according to the bible, abraham fathered ishmael first, then isaac. hagar, ishmael's mother, had some issues and fled from abraham with her son. isaac fathered jacob, whose name was later changed to israel. all the land '' from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates — all the Hittite country — to the Great Sea on the west" (joshua 1:4) was then promised to isaac and to his son jacob.

so if muslims believe they are the sons of ishmael, why is israel (the country) so important to islam? aren't the sons of ishmael out of the contract, so to speak?

It's always been my understanding that Jews have always been Jews since the time of Abraham and even before. I was talking to a muslim recently and he claimed that Abraham and his kin where muslim, definetly not Jews. Also that Jesus was a muslim, as well as Moses and others I thought to be Jews.

I thought Islam didn't exist till Muhammad created it, much like Christianity. So what where the Muslim people were before Muhammad? Also, what where the Arab people before Islam?

I just a saw a video of her getting in a circle with a couple of her friends and praising the lord. She wen't on how grateful she is for her gift(referring to her voice). Funny enough, she decided to ruin the voice she said she was so grateful for. Christians believe their body is the temple of God, yet she uses crack? Ofcourse Bobby had a bad influence on her, but she really brought it on herself.
