Or did they believe 100 percent in their gods? What evidence do we have to support this? I want factual answers, I don't wanna hear rants about false gods.

Everyone believes what they think to be right, and that to be righteous. Assuming a god exists, and he laid out all of his teachings before me, I would still decide for myself what is right and what is wrong. And assuming a god just came into existence along with everything else at the begining of time, what did he/she do in order to achieve judgement over others?

Furthermore, it would be okay if we chose that we wanted to exist, but instead we are thrust into a set of rules we did not initially agree to anyways.

A study done in Israel (and cited by Richard Dawkins in The God Delusion), polled children aged 8 to 14 about the biblical genocide at Jericho. When the story was presented biblically (Joshua was ordered by God to slay all Israelites, including women and children, but to save the gold and silver), 66 percent of the children said they strongly favored Joshua's actions (almost exclusively on religious grounds). However, when the wording of the story was changed to "Gen. Lin" instead of "Joshua" and "a Chinese dynasty 3000 years ago" instead of "Jericho", only 6 percent strongly agreed with the general's actions. Most disagreed.

So, it seems tha religion was the difference between school kids condoning and condemning genocide.

Hmmm ....

Do you think that there are any exceptions if the answer is yes? Does God not understand that sometimes you just have nothing left to live for?

If you see a bird flying, do you "choose" to believe the bird can fly? Can you tell yourself, "I choose to believe the bird can't fly", and actually believe it can't fly? Ofcourse not! Then it's subconcious isn't it? Can you choose not to love your mother?

I say this because I have numerously heard Christians say people choose to be homosexual Oo um......??? People choose to not love Jesus. People choose not to believe in the bible. Since when did subconcious feelings become a choice? You tell me.

I just unblocked my Q&A so everyone could see what an idiot I've been in the past with my questions and answers. I've been argumentative, mean, rude...which is nothing I'm proud of. I've actually grown from being on this site. I'll apologize in advance for the length of this, but my question is, to everyone no matter what faith or lack thereof, can you read this with an open mind and if so, what does it say to you?

My Child…
You may not know me, but I know everything about you

I know when you sit down and when you rise up

This is what gandhi said about PROPHET MUAHAMMAD(P.B.U.H).
Gandhi says in Young India:
"I wanted to know the best of one who holds today's undisputed sway over the hearts of millions of mankind....I became more than convinced that it was not the sword that won a place for Islam in those days in the scheme of life. It was the rigid simplicity, the utter self-effacement of the Prophet, the
scrupulous regard for his pledges, his intense devotion to this friends and followers, his intrepidity, his fearlessness, his absolute trust in God and in his own mission. These and not the sword carried everything before them and surmounted every obstacle. When I closed the 2nd volume (of the Prophet's
biography), I was sorry there was not more for me to read of the great life." This was because our beloved PROPHET MUHAMMAD left us at an age of 63.

The condition of the dead is made clear at Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10, where we read: “The dead know nothing . . . There is no pursuit, no plan, no knowledge or intelligence, within the grave.” (Moffatt) Death, therefore, is a state of nonexistence. The psalmist wrote that when a person dies, “he goes back to his ground; in that day his thoughts do perish.” (Psalm 146:4) The dead are unconscious, inactive. When pronouncing sentence upon Adam, God stated: “Dust you are and to dust you will return.” (Genesis 3:19) Before God formed him from the dust of the ground and gave him life, Adam did not exist. When he died, he returned to that state. His punishment was death—not a transfer to another realm. What, then, happened to his soul? Since in the Bible the word “soul” often simply refers to a person, when we say that Adam died, we are saying that the soul named Adam died. This might sound unusual to a person who believes in the immortality of the soul. However, the Bible states: “The soul that is sinning—it itself will die.” (Ezekiel 18:4) Leviticus 21:1 speaks of “a deceased soul” (a “corpse,” The Jerusalem Bible). The Bible says that when a person dies, “his spirit goes out, he goes back to his ground.” (Psalm 146:4) Does this mean that a disembodied spirit literally departs and lives on after a person’s death? That could not be, for the psalmist next says: “In that day his thoughts do perish” (“all his thinking ends,” The New English Bible). What, then, does it mean when Ecclesiastes 12:7 states that when a person dies, “the spirit itself returns to the true God who gave it”? Does this mean that the spirit literally travels through space into God’s presence? Nothing of the sort is implied. Since the spirit is the life-force, it “returns to the true God” in the sense that any hope of future life for that person now rests entirely with God. Only God can restore the spirit, or life-force, causing a person to come back to life.

From the responses of my last question, it seems like a lot of people believe that angels have free will.

However, over and over I've read in books, seen in movies and been told in church, the thing that makes mankind special and unique is free will.
No other creature is supposed to have it. Can anyone find the place in the bible that explains that for me? Can others comment on why both men and angels can have free will but be different?
Could the reason Satan and a third of all angels were banished from heaven was not that they were evil, but because the wanted or discovered free will? And they became evil after their exile from their hatred of mankind's gift and God's intolerance.

Do you agree? Yes? No? Why?

"'Abdu'l-Bahá replied that superstitions were of two kinds; those that were harmful and dangerous, and those that were harmless and produced certain good effects.

For example, there were some poor people who believed that misfortunes and punishments were caused by a Great Angel with a sword in his hand, who struck down those who stole, and committed murder and crimes.

They thought the flashes of lightning were the weapons of this angel, and that if they did wrong they would be struck by lightning. This belief caused them to refrain from evil actions.

The Chinese held a superstition that if they burn certain pieces of paper this will drive the devils away; they sometimes burnt these pieces of paper on board ships when they were travelling in order to drive away devils, and by so doing they set fire to the ships and destroyed many lives. This was a type of dangerous and harmful superstition."

As far as I understand, non-catholic baptims (the immersion ones) are just done in regular water.
Is the fact that catholics use "holy water" ever supported in the Bible, or is it unbiblical?

It seems all evolutionary attributes have some downsides to them.
For example, fish can breathe in water, but die if exposed to air long enough; a salamander can regenerate limbs, however, they are extremely frail.
Our greatest evolutionary advantage is self-awareness, the ability to analyze one's own thoughts and recognize one's own existence.
But is seems the downside of not functioning on instinct alone is being prone to delusions induced by fear of the unexplained and the brain trying to make sense out of a seemingly chaotic environment.

Your thoughts?

In the 10 commandments, it mentions something about not worshiping another God or something because God is a jealous God,......My question is why is it (according to the bible), that he tells us not be jealous but yet, he gets jealous if someones into another God????

"27. O SON OF DUST!
All that is in heaven and earth I have ordained for thee, except the human heart, which I have made the habitation of My beauty and glory; yet thou didst give My home and dwelling to another than Me; and whenever the manifestation of My holiness sought His own abode, a stranger found He there, and, homeless, hastened unto the sanctuary of the Beloved. Notwithstanding I have concealed thy secret and desired not thy shame."

Undoubtedly there will be athiest that will respond to this question, but honestly it is for the opinion of others who whole heartedly believe but are still looking to make sense of their faith.

It helps to strenghthen my faith when I believe I can understand God's plan a bit. Here is a fairly simplified version of why I think we are here and why faith is important. I asking others with faith why we are here, what is God's plan? Is there anything fundamentally wrong with my scope of understanding?

Sorry if you've seen this before. Here it is.
We were created in God's own image. Not meaning God has ten toes and an appendix, but more like our souls share the same needs and wants as God. We want to love and be loved, it is perhaps the only thing that our souls really need.

God was all alone in the begining, so he did what most of us would do if we were in his position with unlimited power. He first made the Angels to worship and love him, but it was as if they were slaves. Their love seemed to have no meaning because they didn't have a choice, they had to love and worship God because they were created to without any other purpose.

God created man in such a way, in such a world were we were given the ultimate free will. If there was undeniable proof of his existence, we would be obligated to love and worship him out of fear. Rather, the fact that our love is out of pure faith makes our love the most valuable thing in the Universe. He seeks a companionship based on love, not obiligation.

Truth is the true manifestation of the almighty himself. When you talk the truth, he is there in it. When you support truth, you are supporting him. Being truthful is religious. Following truth is worship.
