I'm really frustrated by it. When somebody says "Oh, he doesn't believe in God," I want to imprison said person in an iron ball and fire them into the Sun. It isn't a strong enough word and it isn't even correct semantically, given how my Atheism is not attributable to lack of Belief, but upon mounds of reasoning and Scientific rumination. I would prefer:

"Oh, he reasons that there is no God. What a wally!"

or

"Oh, he is convinced there is no God. Not One!"

This would make me happy.

Conversely, how do Theist feel about this? Is 'belief' a strong enough word? If you consider the Bible as proof that God exists (as many do), then 'belief' is erroneous, isn't it?

well, i had a really crazy brother. he's a christian. he always talks about god, to us and others. and how we must burn people who don't believe. just because they just believe in something else, would you force your belief on them?

i mean, if you were born a in a different religion wouldn't you have a chance of believing your religion is the only true religion. just like being who you are now?

If I were God I wouldnt let any idiot to kill others in my NAME. Since I am omnipresent, I would prevent the occurence of such silly things like the death of innocent people in Iraq (babies and civilians).. This means that by not using his omnipotence God displays the fact that he is EVIL as he enjoys watching the massacres of the innocent people. Why do you think God enjoys the massacres of little innocent babies in Iraq? Maybe he is not omnipotent... Maybe he has limited power... If he is limited, some say that he cant be a GOD... Is God God.... Why is my sense of JUSTICE is higher than that of GOD?? Is he that primitive??

HA?

Please when you are answering my question, do not talk about free will of people.... Rather talk about God's attitude.... I am not asking you to talk about the murders.... Please talk about your God....and his behaviour...

I'm curious as to how people learn about God. What other methods are used besides the ancient texts?

Thanks in advance

Do you think He made us because He was bored and wanted company? Maybe he just wanted entertainment. If you don't think it was for any of those reasons, then what DO you think His reasons were?

Do you think perhaps He just enjoys creating things and then moving on to the next project, the way most artists and craftsmen do? If that is so, then could it be possible that once he is finished creating us, that he never gives us another thought because he is now busy with a new creation? Would that be such a bad thing?

Whatever you say, they reply " but god did through man" or " the devil did it" or " It's gods plan" or " we don't need proof we have faith". Normal people will try and back up there arguments with real evidence. "It said it in the bible" is as much proof as "they said it on south park"
If christians arguments are this weak, do you think that maybe your faith is misplaced?

I mean correct me if I am wrong but it does say in the Bible that SOMETIMES it is good for a man not to marry. Why should a man or woman not be allowed to marry and follow Christ?
Lets look at some great leaders in the Bible who Married, Moses, King David... well the list is too long. It says that a man should leave his mother and his father and be joined with his wife does it not?

By the way I am a Christian

Creationists/Intelligent Design advocates (same thing) argue that, because science hasn't found out how life actually started, a big invisible monster must have done it. By this logic, before Galileo worked out, through his experiments, that the Earth wasn't really flat, it must have been flat before he discovered it wasn't because science hadn't found out it wasn't flat. The moon also must have been made out of cheese at one stage.

Any IDers care to discredit my argument?

That God allows 'evil' to exist in the world because of the existence of free will. We are given good and bad choices in the hope that we will make the right one, and eventually go to heaven. If that is true, then what is the justification for the victims of those bad choices? For example, in the case of child abuse, the abuser has obviously made an immoral choice, and would presumably therefore be punished in the afterlife. How would a Christian justify the child's suffering, however? The abused child has not made an immoral decision. Their abuse in not the result of poor choices on their behalf. Please don't just say "it's part of God's plan" or "God gives us nothing we can't handle", I would like a logical answer as to how Christians can justify the suffering caused to the victims of other people's immoral decisions.

There was a flood in a village.

One man said to everyone, "I'll stay! God will save me!"

The flood got higher and a boat came and the man in it said "Come on mate, get in!"

"No" replied the man. God will save me!

The flood got very high now and the man had to stand on the roof of his house.

A helicopter soon came and the man offered him help."

No, God will save me!" he said

Eventually he died by drowning.

He got by the gates of heaven and he said to God "Why didn't you save me?"

God replied, "For goodness sake! I sent a boat and a helicopter. What more do you want!"
