Or do you consider yourself to be an apostate, hiding out from your religion who will later rejoin the faithfull once you are done "Rebelling". or are you dishonest atheists afraid of displeasing your friends and family?

Katie, you massively misunderstand the question then...It isn't meant to insult anyone, but find out if people who call themselves agnostic are actually atheists who bend to social pressure and fear calling themselves athesit, or if they truly don't know if there is, or could be a god (ignorant). Or if they just don't care if there is such a thing...

Ok, here it is, I am an Apathetic Atheist.. I don't care if there is a God, could be a God, or if others beleive there is a God, I am also Ignorant of any and all empirical data to suggest teh existence, or non-existence of anything even remotely godlike, let alone a god... That's how I describe my lack of beleif about deities...I am not insulted int eh slightest if someone used any one of those terms to describe me in the same way,
I certainly don't mean to use them pejoratively.. though I can see how some might take it that way... My humble apologies...

Both! I am uninterested in answers that others make up on the topic and I know I don't know anything about it and neither do they.

You've been posting a lot. You seriously need a life, my friend.

Your question is massively insulting. I describe myself as atheist on this website precisely because of people like you. I assume you are one of those atheists who has decided that 'agnostics are as bad as Christians', as one person I spoke to delightfully said. Agnostics do not believe in a god, just as you don't. We just aren't arrogant enough to assume that we know everything, and can claim 100% that there is no god. I'm neither apathetic, nor arrogant. In fact, I would suggest that you are arrogant for assuming you 100% know that there is no god. Are you omniscient? Unless you are, then your position seems as arrogant to me as that of a Christian, to be perfectly honest. Get off your high horse and realise that we're on your side, we just don't claim to be omniscient!

Pork Chops!: (great name, by the way) OK, I accept that you weren't meaning to insult me, but you must be aware of the pejorative associations of the words 'apathetic' and 'ignorant'! From your reply to me I can see that you have extremely negative views of what being agnostic means. Contrary to your opinion, I would not be afraid to admit to being atheist, as my whole family are atheist, and I live in highly atheist London. I have not been baptised/christened. Neither am I apathetic. I am studying philosophy at university, and am passionate about the non-existence of god, to the point of foolish anger sometimes. I have never been religious, and am not "hiding out from [my] religion". I simply choose to be agnostic because, having studied philosophy extensively, I am aware that it is essentially impossible to know anything, and it seems to me that saying "I am completely certain that nowhere in the universe does there exist any kind of deity" is just as extreme as saying "I am completely certain that there is a deity". They seem like two sides of the same coin to me, can you see where I'm coming from? Not meaning to insult you either!

EDIT: You are forgiven :o)

It makes no difference. People want to label you whatever you do.

I have no evidence of deities, gods etc, so I don't believe in them. I don't deny them, like I don't deny an unprovable invisible giant teapot in space. But neither do I believe in them.

So I consider myself honest for not playing make-believe as an adult.

Honest is the correct definition.

No, logical. And truthful. Can the existence or non-existence of God be proven ? No ? What's the problem ?

I classify myself as a strong agnostic, so neither applies.
