People always tell a person who wants to consider plastic surgery or feels ugly to "accept how God made you". Unfortunatelly people are treated different based on appearance. Does that mean that God choose whom he wanted to be ugly or are they ugly because of the parent's genes? Does God actually make a baby's body?

Anyone else familiar with and a little creeped out by the growing commercial entity known as Life Church? Check out this site to see how quickly it has grown. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LifeChurch.tv
You have to see it to believe it. One moved into my town not long ago and I was blown away with the commercialism of it. Everything is over the top and gaudy, not Godly. Huge building, spot lights, flyers, even their logo is commercial. It's a little scary and It feels like a cult in the making to me. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with it.

I was reading a recent question by a Christian regarding God and His existance.....someone stated they would rather go to Hell than worship the God of the Bible......Why would anyone want to go to Hell???....I ask because that makes no sense to me.

I have to go to a library to do "community service" hours and there is one guy, very sweet, nice, and friendly...

He was saying that he KNOWS there are real vampires and that he has been "drinking" since he was 6... He said his wife has gotten his blood because he was bleeding and his words were "she attacked" him because she wanted to "get to his blood"...

Now he was serious and it was like normal conversation, the way he was speaking... if that makes any sense... not like he was trying to "scare"

He is gothic-ish and has mentioned being Pagan a few times...

What is this about? I have never met anyone like this... It doesn't freak me out I am just really confused about him... he seems normal but he says things that blow my mind.

Is he joking or are there really people who do this kind of thing? I mean he doesn't have anyone to impress at the library as it is mostly kids there and he is in his 20's. He is actually really, really good with the kids. He isn't all that odd.

We have all been in rooms
We cannot die in, and they are odd places, and sad.
Often Indians are standing eagle-armed on hills

In the sunrise open wide to the Great Spirit
Or gliding in canoes or cattle are browsing on the walls
Far away gazing down with the eyes of our children

Not far away or there are men driving
The last railspike, which has turned
Gold in their hands. Gigantic forepleasure lives

Among such scenes, and we are alone with it
At last. There is always some weeping
Between us and someone is always checking

A wrist watch by the bed to see how much
Longer we have left. Nothing can come
Of this nothing can come

Of us: of me with my grim techniques
Or you who have sealed your womb
With a ring of convulsive rubber:

Although we come together,
Nothing will come of us. But we would not give
It up, for death is beaten

By praying Indians by distant cows historical
Hammers by hazardous meetings that bridge
A continent. One could never die here

Never die never die
While crying. My lover, my dear one
I will see you next week

When I'm in town. I will call you
If I can. Please get hold of Please don't
Oh God, Please don't any more I can't bear... Listen:

We have done it again we are
Still living. Sit up and smile,
God bless you. Guilt is magical.

Who here thinks "believing" is a matter of "choice", and who thinks it's "subconcious"?

Can you choose to believe that dogs can fly and honestly believe so? Can you choose to believe that your mother hates you and honestly believe so? Can you choose to believe you are a girl when your a boy and honestly believe so?

For example, if your friend told you that your girlfriend is cheating on you, and you believed him. Why is that? Did you choose to believe or was it subconcious? Here's why you believed your friend. 1)Your girlfriend has cheated on you before and you caught her, 2)You have never caught your friend lying to you before, 3)There were other witnesses who confirmed your girlfriend was indeed cheating on you. These three factors led you to believe in your friend, and that is what we call "subconcious", not "choice".

I mean no offense and I place this question out of curiousity, not disrespect.

I've always been curious how a person can 100% genuinly believe that when you die, it all goes black and that is it? To believe in no after life of any type, to me essientally means that you really do not exist at all.

When I look at my daughter, I cannot fathom the idea that there is no chance of there being some sort of afterlife, heaven, something. It's just too difficult to imagine. I have this almost intictive feeling that a greater loving entity must exist for us all, as this is my wish for my own offspring. If you believe we happened by total accident and when you die that is it, then by two generations, you never existed at all. Think about it. There has to be more. How can you describe love, emotions, life's pleasures, if it is all for not? Most atheists cry out for God when they are facing death, this is a proven fact. Why is this?

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change. The courage to change the things I can. And the wisdom to know the difference.

Does anyone think that Jesus and God are mythological, in the sense that people often create explanations for things when they don't know the real reasoning behind an event. For example in ancient Rome and Greece, the people used to create gods for things such as thunderstorms and the Sun, just because they didn't know the real reasoning behind those events (thunderstorms- evaporation, temperature, etc. The Sun- the center of our galaxy with a gravitational field that holds all of the planets in orbit). This is in reference to people crediting God with the creation of the Universe and Jesus with miracles (I believe that miracles are phenomenon "Phenomenon- a fact or event of SCIENTIFIC interest susceptible to scientific description and explanation).
