Dear Jonathan,

Romans 8:26-30 is an extremely encouraging Scripture. It tells us that God is grealty concerned about the trials of HIs people. When Jesus was ministering on earth, Jesus groaned when He saw what sin was doing to mankind (See Mark 7:34 and John 11:33; 38).

The Holy Spirit groans with us and feels the burdens of our weaknesses and suffering. But He does more than empathize with us-- He prays for us-- that we would be lead into the will of God. Admittedly we do not always know what God's will is. We do not always know how to pray, but the Holy Spirit intercedes so that we might live in the will of God in spite of suffering. The Holy Spirit shares our "burdens with us."

This means that the believer in Christ need never faint in times of suffering and trial because he knows that:

1) God is at work in the world (Romans 8:28)

2) God's plan is perfect (Romans 8:29)

And the two purposes in God's plan are always two-fold:

1) It is for our good.

2) It is for His glory.

Hope that helps. Kindly,

Nickster

You are a tripartite person - made up of a body, soul, and spirit. When you become a Christian your spirit (dead in trespasses and sins - Eph.2:1) is renewed by the Holy Spirit coming into you (you become a new creation - 2 Cor.5:17). It is this Holy Spirit within that can see your soul (mind, will, and emotions) and helps you to pray according to God's will.
Verses 28-30 talk about predestination - the fact that God decided before you were born that you would be saved and sanctified - not because of anything you were or are, or that you deserved it, because you didn't - but solely according to his sovereign will.

It seems to point to our destiny as all ready known by God,,,he knew who would come to him...we don't..but he does....so when we are called, we answer...I don't think it means predestination...but let's face it...God does know everything....so in a sense it is....Can we change our destiny? Probably not, but since we don't know what it is,,,it really doesn't matter. We do have free will, and even with God knowing our destiny,,,we will do what we will do, regardless.

Oh! man!! I'm so glad you asked so LISTEN UP CATHOLICS,, attn vs 26!! "Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. for we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit HIMSELF MAKES INTERSESSION FOR US* with groanings which cannot be uttered.,,, NOW in context with Jn.16:23,,,,Mary cannot be an intercessor for us,,,NO! not as it IS written!!!

An NIV is for babies, the KJV is for beginners, get your hands on The Book of Yahweh. The translations are unfettered from king james editorializing. Once you begin reading it you'll see why religion fails.

It means that we should pray as we are supposed to pray. Not stopping, But at the same time. Our spirit itself knows what we want. That is Jesus know what we want, So the spirit intercedes for us.(asks god for what we want) but we should still pray with faith and believe that we have received it.
