As a Christian, I feel obliged to try & save the souls of my brethren, because my faith has taught me that they're "lost". I don't mean to shove my beliefs down someone else's throat, but I suppose I'm capable of getting that carried away, by caring too much -- for that, I apologize. By this, I'm saying, "Yes, they do have reason to object". At the same time, I also wonder why someone who has no faith is even submitting comments in this "Religion & Spirituality" category. How can they "put us on the defensive" in a forum where we should be sharing with others "of faith", & expect to be welcomed in spite of their faithless commentary. For that, Christians, Muslims, Buddists, etc., also have "justified contentions"!

Here we go... there should be a law for what I'm about to say...

Every, well, most religions anyway, have one basic overall idea, help thy neighbor. And this was the original idea behind Christianity, help thy neighbor, and give the same courtesy without being asked. In some cases, love thy neighbor became the more used term for this, which in essence is that.

From a neutral side, I say that both sides have decent arguements, and at the same time, both have absolutely riddiculous ones. For atheists, you say that there is no logic behind religion, which I find to be true. On the same note, Christians say that theres little logic in gambling, which I think is true only because I've gone broke gambling, but thats either here or there. The point is that both sides have decent arguements.

If your curious why I mentioned the whole "Love thy neighbor" thing, Christians like to follow that a lot, or so they claim. When two of them showed up at my door telling me Jesus was the correct path, I told them I'll think about it, the first thing they said was the following:

Witness One: If you don't follow Jesus, then may the Devil take you at Judgment!
Witness Two: And send you to the darkest depths of it!

"Love thy neighbor, unless they say no"

All atheists are justified.

To DaM.. - You assume that movie is going to hamper the mind of a child but have no problem telling a child he will burn in hell for an eternity if he or she does not believe in your faith? Perhaps a nice family movie like Mel Gibson's is more suitable? Please, what are you thinking?

you could turn that around to say Atheists: do you think that christians have justified contentions?

see how easily that is.
just remember our beliefs arent stained with the blood of millions of non-believers.

and you talk about atheists being contentious.

Every complaint they have against christians can be redirected back at them in a similar way. Both sides have jerks. Both sides have complaints, some legit, some not.

That's funny: You have a movie that comes out called "The Golden Compass" which is watered down for promoting atheism to kids. (The Anti-Narnia books has kids actually "killing off God" and "do whatever they want." )

Does that sound justified to you?

Especailly when your aiming at CHILDREN?

Atheists are the greatest people in the world, mostly because they have reality on their side.
