you mean like those Christians that did just that after being threatened by beheading from their Islamic captors a year or two ago . I'm sure many a braggart as denied they would in the security of home only to find in reality life is far more precious than a phony ideology.
I don't care what ones religion or philosophy is, life is worth more.
Peace; May you be well, may you be happy, may you be free from suffering .

In my Case, being known to run in traffic to save an animal, take on crowd of thugs to save a friend or brother, remained in a burning hotel to help others(which put me in ICU for two weeks) I probably sound crazy I would accept death. But, only if I knew others were in danger. If it was just for me I probably would say anything. I'd run away to avoid fighting a 2yr. old. But I'd fight a buzz saw to protect one. I don't know where it comes from.

My life was destroyed because my (now Ex) husband & I refuse to denounce our faith in a supposed free country - supported by a biased court system.
MY faith is stronger - but the 20 year old marriage didn't survive the abuse & pressure.

It was a gift given to me. If it came to that point I believe that God would give me special grace to withstand that trial. Only in that by doing so He would be glorified, and perhaps one of those invlolved may come to a saving faith as well. Anyway I did not come to Christ for a life devoid of trouble, pain, but to be reconcilled to God the one whom I hated and by whom I was loved with a great love.
In my own strenght and force of will, i would probably fail.

Verbally I would recant, (I hate pain, LOL), but in my heart I would always believe. This tactic has been used thru out the ages and is still used today to keep fledgling Religions alive in the face of adversity. Just as Christianity once was ... Blessings!

Dear Rockasta,
No i would not for several reasons:
1) If your faith is something that you give your life to, it is definetly something worth dying for. Faith is not meant to be a "security blanket" or just a personal belief- it's something that is reflected in the way that you live. The things that you live for are most certainly worth dying for.
2) For me as a Christian- the Bible has recorded instances of people who have died for their faith. God is able to rescue people in situations like that. And God warns that in the latter days that faithlessness will abound; i want to be faithful!
Hope that helps. Kindly,
Nickster

Non-religious Agnostic Atheist. But yeah, I probably would make a lipservice admission of faith to avoid physical peril.

No, there is no greater love than one who would lay down his life for another. what would profit a person to save his own life and lose his soul? we must all love each other as if we would lay down our life for anyone. This is the example that Jesus set. And I will not deny him.

I hope to be the first to be beheaded for refusing to be implanted with a microchip.
I cannot think of a higher honor.
I believe many Christians look forward to that choice, actually.

No. and I'm agnostic. Its not because i'd die for my belief of anything could be right and we don't know it, but because of the freedom believing it represents.
