If you are shopping for a Christian religion it has to be the one founded by Jesus Christ himself.

How can you know that the Catholic Church is the one that Jesus founded?

Because Jesus told Simon at the same time that He changed his name to Peter: "And I tell you that you are Peter (means rock), and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades (or hell) will not overcome it." (Matthew 16:18, NIV, parenthesis from footnotes).

No denomination other than Catholic can trace their roots in an unbroken succession all the way back to Peter and the apostles. A succession that has been manifested by the laying on of hands. Every other Christian denomination can ultimately trace their roots back to some individual and time when they separated from the Church built on Peter and the faith which that Church teaches.

In His great commission, Jesus told the eleven Apostles (Judas had hung himself and Matthias had not yet been chosen to replace him):
"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28:18-20, NIV, emphasis added)
These eleven Apostles were the first Bishops of the Church with Peter as their leader (see the chapter titled "THE PAPACY"). Notice that Jesus promised to be with this Church and its leaders "always, to the very end of the age" and that "the gates of Hades will not overcome it."

This means that the Church will be divinely protected in its teaching until the end of time. Unless the Bible is wrong or Jesus lied, that Church is the Catholic Church. This also precludes the possibility of the Church going into error at some time in history. Some of the things the Church teaches may not be what we want to hear, but the command is to teach everything, not just the nice, easy-to-obey things.

They are all right and not ALL are telling the others they are Hell. That is a Judeo-Christian mindset. My path is right for me and keeps me in touch with the divine, that is all that matters. What I choose to call/not call "god" has no bearing on whether or not I am a good person. And I do not belive the majority of Christians are bad people either. Christianity is a valid path to walk through life. It just isn't the path for me.

Religions are like anything else in this world, imperfect. None is right. Some may be better suited to someone, than another. Because of cultural differences, some are more comfortable to people born in the area the religion predominates. You have to do the best you can to find the right path for you. I am not a traditionalist, so I think we can do a lot better in getting the best in spiritual ideas, and in proving their value in what good we can do in this world, guided by the connection they give us to the spiritual or God.

Hi there Im Daphne. In my opinion your the only one who could decide which religion you think is right because God gave you the right to choose which is which.. as a christian, i have heard and encountered other people who have the same question as yours but the truth is "it all depends on your faith and belief in one God alone." There maybe a thousand religions to choose from but for me being a christian is the best experience since our founder was jesus christ, God's only begotten son. You may have heard a lot of rumors that us christians have a bad root for evilness but no... it depends on a person if he/she would fall into sin and that is the reason why there may be a lot of reasons why people needed to shift religions to become holy. In reality, which ever religion you think is the best would still lead you in the hands of the devil because its already common for us that he will tempt us so that our relationship with our lord will be ruined. So its up to you what you think is right =) take care and God bless you! from a friend of yours, Daphne.

What would you do if you were going to some place important, but you were not sure about the road to take. You ask five different people and they all point you in opposing directions. But if you had a map, and one of them showed you where you were at the moment, and showed you (on the map) which way to go, wouldn't you listen to that person?

The Bible is our map, any religion that points you in a direction that goes against Bible teachings is a false religion.

Compare every single religious teaching against the Bible, and the religion that bases ALL its teachings on the Bible is the right religion.

If you don't know your religion is the true path you are not a true believer.
But when you find the right path please don't bother others with it - dont forget most people have found their true faith by the time they are adults and they are just as right as everybody else (even me!).

You choose the one that feels right for you.

Despite the difference in search for self
or the teachings you know and follow
There will be more to learn today and even more tomorrow.

So in spite of the differences
learn to seek that which is the essence of your being.

Some famous but yet obscure religions:
Satanism; The Church of Satan
Scientology
Unitarian-Universalism
The Creativity Movement (formerly called World Church of the Creator)
The Yazidi branch of Yazdânism
Zoroastrianism

There are a few 100 more really, really obscure religious sects that are mostly off shoots of these or combinations of two or more faith systems and etc.

So now you know...so how do you tell which one is real? Which is the right path to take. Well, paths typically have a beginning and will always lead you to the end. Paganism was the first religion on the planet. It entailed some pretty rough stuff...human sacrifice, temple prostitution, forced deity worship and etc. Then comes the Hebraic faith system...you know the Biblical account of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob which gave the monotheistic creation account and religous practice of just one God. So you had paganism or polytheism vs monotheism. From the Hebraic faith you have the offshoots of Judaism first, then Christianity then Islam. From those you have the splitting of all the denominations and factions of each religion from the orthadox to the neo practices that have been modernized. For me...I practice none of the above. Not really...I believe in God. I believe in the God of the Bible as provided by the reign of King James in 1611 which included the articles and books of the apocrypha. The reason is this...but don't take my word for it...because from beginning to end it is fully supported from every aspect including the very integrity of the scriptures. No other religion has given the people a noble law..which is to love each other as you also worship the one True God. As well, the Bible tells you from the beginning what the wages of sin are and it doesn't change. Hell is not an eternal torment in the raging fires of brimstone and sulfer as has been taught by apostate religions. Hell is the grave...its death...the term comes from the Hebrew Sheol. So for those that choose not to acknowledge God...they are choosing the second and final death. That is why I choose the Bible as the final say so in all things faith oriented. I know this sounds clinical and cold..but there is more to it than that. God never asks anyone to have blind faith..that is another lie taught. The Word of God implores each of us to search the scriptures...to test the spirits...to seek the truth...to not lean on our own understanding. The Bible calls itself inspired over a thousand times and never once says other wise. Its cohesive in unity...book to book, chapter to chapter...even in its minor imperfections having everything to do with language..it has not lost its integrity as compared with the ancient documents..thousands of them that show how unchanged it is. The Bible even predicts itself in many places...Rev 11 for one...but here is another...

Psalm 23:5
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

That table represents the bread of life - scripture, the oil represents the power of the Holy Spirit our Comforter, the cup symbolizes the blood sacrifice of mercy and atonement that doesn't run out. All these have been offered to us on a silver platter and in the face of much opposition, even the very suppression of scripture by the prophesied appostate church for 1260 years. So while I cannot dictate to you what faith system to choose..I can recommend that you choose one that has the most answers and looking at the world around us...we have broken every single one of God's laws and are on the brink, the very precipace of disaster because of it and that should be evidence in and of itself. However, its for you to decide. Choose Him and you have eternal life. Choose yourself and you will die and never live again. Eternal life or eternal death. Read the Bible..don't listen to any man. Pray and let the Spirit lead you. I'm a christian sabbatarian. Christian because there is really no other term available for someone who loves God and considers themselves a disciple but...a Christian in the truest sense of the Word even I can't hold a candle to that walk in life...though I pray He makes me worthy of Him. I'm a sabbatarian because I believe in the Laws of the Old Testament except and in where the blood of Christ has replaced the sacrificial atonement laws or any blood marking laws as with circumcision and etc. It all comes down to trusting and obeying. Obey the Commandments and Trust in His mercy. Love in Christ, ~J~
