Right, i'm Jewish so i'm a little confused by this one.

the other day we had a crazy lady come into our work, she was talking to herself and took a dislike to my colleague so started shouting and preaching at her. she was obviously very religious and told us that she speaks to Jesus every day, she then picked up her mobile phone and 'called' Jesus on it and spoke in tongues down the phone. i asked her what language she was talking in but she said that Jesus said that i was making fun of her (i wasn't) so she wouldn't talk to me anymore. she went on to say that she loves Jesus more than anyone in the world and that Jesus was the greatest ect. i said 'can i ask you a question?' (as i was geniuninly interested in what she was going to say) but Jesus told her that i couldnt ask her a question and that she had to leave, so she did. my question was.. you say you love Jesus more than anyone, do you love him more than God? what do you think shed say and what do you think?

confused...

Shalom!

Sorry about your experience with the crazy lady!!

Its a valid question on an admittedly confusing topic but asking whether Jesus is more important than God is like asking whether women are more important than men: they're equal, but in the first case both God, and in the second both human.

Don't know how much you've read of the Jewish Scriptures but they're basically the same as the Christian "Old Testament". In the very first chapter of the very first book, it says that God created the heavens and the earth, and that the spirit was present. When God talks about what he's creating he says, "let US" (emphasis added). So he says "let us create man in OUR image", and he creates us male and female.

The gospel of John says, "Through him [Jesus] all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made." (ch 1:3)

Basically God is one, as it says in Deuteronomy 6:4- "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one." But God is not a mathematical oneness- he has revealed himself as Father, Son, and Spirit- all eternally and equally God.

"For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh." Genesis 2:24. God's creation of marriage and sex for us is a physical reflexion of the spiritual reality of who he is- one God, but three "persons": Father, Son and Spirit.

I haven't even begun to talk about the different roles the Father Son and Spirit, and only just touched on some of the practical applications of who God is. Hope it wasn't too confusing an introduction though and that you get to know God personally for yourself!

God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit are all equally important.
We pray to God the Father thru Jesus the son who is our great high priest, and God the Holy Spirit is our consuler

God gave is only begotten son Jesus as a sacrifice so we can live. Yes, we love Jesus for giving His life for us, but it was His Father that allowed this to happen. When Jesus was on earth He told His followers to love and thank His Father for all He gave.
So, love for God should be first.

Christians believe that Jesus was the son of God, but that after his death, there was the Trinity, which is that God the Father, God the Son, & God the Spirit, are one - 3 in one. Difficult for some to comprehend, but if you do believe it - neither Jesus nor God can be more important than the other! Suggestion: you could type in Trinity to Google search for more info. good luck.

Honestly, in my opinion... I don't think that should be your question. I mean, I know it is, however I think, everyone thinks that at one point or another. If you believe in God or not. But, I think people over-exagertate the whole God and Jesus issue. This woman who comes in preaching the word of Jesus and talking to Jesus on her phone, sounds like a schizo... but hey, that's any Jesus-totting Christian huh? Someone sounds completely NVTS. N-V-T-S, NVTS! Really, if this woman was all about Jesus, she wouldn't be so judgemental or controversial on the issue. First this woman needs to practice what she preaches... don't act judgemental or shut people out cause they don't share your belief. That's just messed up, in any religion. Sorry... Jesus and God may be important, but come on... none of us have ever seen them before. And it's one thing to love someone, but more than your fellow man...? Some peoples priorities are really %&^*$ed up. Jesus was a man of helping his fellow human being... if we are to preach the word of Jesus or whatever belief you have, remember that PEOPLE are much more important than that of a belief. And on a side note, she's lucky she wasn't next to me when she said that stuff... I believe in god and whatnot, but don't give me that "I love Jesus more than anything crap"... I would've made her cry. And all this from a military man.

Also, I think it's pretty messed up for some of you people to come in here and call people make-believe... I mean, are you just trying to rank some points or are your points valid? Seriously... you don't see anyone of us coming and knocking your beliefs. I'm not as crazy as most of the bible preaching Christians in here, but don't make fun of any religion just cause your too foolish to understand it.

If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all.

First, I must point out that I was born in an Orthodix Jewish home, and my older brother is a Chassidik L'buvitch Rabbi.

I became a Christian in my mid 20's, but the event is too long to recount at this time.

As a Christian, I think that the lady needs some meds.

The Christian belief is that God, by the power of His Holy Spirit, inhabited the body of Jesus in all His fullness, and as a result, Jesus is on an equal par with God.

This is something that you may find difficult, after all, "Sh'ma Yisrael, Ado--- Elo--- Ado--- Echad" (Not typing out the full names out of respect), "Here O Israel, the L-RD our G-d is one G-d".

It sounds like two gods as polytheistic, but a good way of examining this is to look to the makeup of man. After all, the Scriptures say that God created us in His own image, so by looking at Man, we can get an idea of what God is like.

Man is tri-une in the nature of his makeup. I have a body, a soul, and a spirit, but there is only ONE of ME.

Genesis says that "In the beginning, G-d created" and then "The SPIRIT of G-d hovered over the face of the deep" and then "G-d said (the WORD or VOICE of God) said 'Let there be light.' "

The New Testament explains, "In the beginning was the WORD. The WORD was not only WITH God, but WAS God. All things that exist were created by Him, and nothing exists that was not created by Him." Farther down, it goes on to say, "And the WORD became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth." It states that "No man has seen God, but the son, who came out of the very heart of God has revealed His nature to us."

So, you see, Christians believe that Jesus originated from within the very heart of God, and as such, is equal to God. No, we don't think that the BODY was special, or that his mother was the mother of God (that's a strange catholic belief), but that his essential Being, his SPIRIT is God's own Holy Spirit.

Again, as to this lady, I think she needs some meds in a serious way!!!

God bless you :-)

Jesus is God. God is 3 persons unified as 1. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

I can totally understand why you are confused. I myself are a Christian and I can asure you this lady was not. There is no way that you can speak to Jesus down the telephone. As to your question Jesus and God are the same person so I love them just the same.

I don't know what she would say but Jesus is the physical incarnation of Jesus. He is the only way to have direct access to God. Thus when Christian's pray we do so "in Jesus' name". For this ensures us that our prayer is heard by God. They are of equal importance.

She sounds a little crazy to me.

Be prepared for varying answers on this one. I posted a Q yesterday asking if Jesus is god and got lots of different opinions. No one agrees on this one...

Doesn't really matter to me either way though...
