By many standards, I'm conservative, though I'd never vote Republican. I'm an atheist - who believes that we have a right to bear arms, who does not support affirmative action, who believes that we need a balanced budget, etc.

I think Skalite sounds like me.
Is this a thread where we can find our twins?

Yes, we exist, though we are very, very rare as I am sure you have deduced.

I have been a registered member of the Republican Party since 1978, all most as long as I have been an Atheist, and have voted Republican in every election, save the last one.

I am a Conservative Republican by the traditional definition. I am not a Neo-con, and I don't in any way support the Neo-Conservative strategy of manipulating the masses through religion.

Yes, there are many conservative atheists. Most fall in the libertarian camp of politics but I do know a few Republican atheists.

It seems likely as the Republican party actually started out as the party of "give the military all the cash it wants and leave people alone!!!"

I can respect that more than the "crusaders" in the whitehouse now.

I don't know any Conservative Republican Christians! There's no way to fight a war on Christ's values and remain a Christian.
