I really dont care either way. I've never knocked anyone up (To my knowledge anyhow) but there seems to be such a double standard about the whole thing. From what I understand you are legally dead once brainwaves and heartbeat stop so wouldnt that mean you are "Alive" when they start?

Interesting that only one guy and a fundementalist at that addressed the actual point.

Oddly enough God has no problem with abortions. Morally it bothers me.

Yea, though they bring forth, yet will I slay even the beloved fruit of their womb. -- Hosea 9:16

Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up. -- Hosea 13:16

Jamus, I agree.Yes you are alive when there is a heartbeat AND brainwaves. However I also believe that it is the persons right to choose. I do not believe that abortion should be used as a form of contraception though. The law should decide that abortion can not take place after 12 weeks.

There are many people out there who would love to adopt a child....but for the mother who gives up their child they need to realize that some day an adult will knock on their door wanting answers as to why she didn't want him/her.

It's so easy for other people to judge you but walk a mile in her shoes and maybe you would understand some of the decisions made were the correct ones.

This is not a topic that really belongs here primarily due to the bigotry and hatred spouted by "tolerant" religions.
I am pro-choice but I seriously doubt this is a choice that is taken lightly.Pro-lifers seem to think it is used as some sort of contraception.
At the same time most of them worship a "god" that (if he existed) would be the biggest abortionist in history along with being the biggest baby and child murderer of all time.
Sickening.
They will all spout about how the mother should keep the baby and put it up for adoption, yet how many would actually adopt or financially support them?
There was a question on this subject earlier and I could only see 2 that had claimed to have actually done it.the rest ranted on in parrot fashion like the juvenile minds they are.

well basically in england the abortion is 24 weeks i think it should be lowerd to 20, if a women does not want a baby and cant look after it and dont have a stable home or been raped and ,, the baby doesnt die painfully anyway , do you remeber anything from inside the womb or even when you were 1 2 or 3 years old ?.. how can the baby feel pain if its not developed, and stuff ,,, i agree with an abortion if you cant handle one ,but if u dnt have one just let you mother or father look after it and bring it up as there own, its not murder, unless its a fully developed baby with a beating heart

I never thought of it in that way but it's a very good and valid point to consider.
When it's a loved one that is brain-dead you want to hang on to what there was.
But when it's a baby you don't want for some reason it's OK to just get rid of it and act like it never happened.

There is a HUGE double standard.

I believe life begins when the sperm fertilizes the egg

all it takes is nutrition and time to grow
the heart starts beating at 12 weeks

sounds like you have the beginnings of a good argument

and by the way - all 19 books used by new physicians
in all the medical schools in the USA all agreed
will my first belief - and yet, the Supreme Court could not
find a 'consensus' in the states

sorry - how many Martin Luther Kings, Thomas Edisons,
Florence Nightingales, Mother Thersa's etc etc etc
have we lost due to this atrocity

and we would have no tax money shortage if those
taxpayers had lived

abortion; the fetus feels pain; the baby is either scrapped out in pieces alive , bit by bit or is killed; when the needle is injected , the fetus does everything in its power to move away from it; many a machine has been wrong and many a person has been wrong; the things you think today will not always be the things that you think tomorrow.

That's irrational.

No one denies that an embryo is alive. If that granted it a RIGHT TO LIFE, which is the central question in the abortion debate, then everyone would be vegetarian.

That is a really good point! I consider myself christian and in that i do not judge others actions and what they decide to do with their lives. As a christian I understand that it is not my place to judge, it is my place to love everyone. We all sin, some people tell lies to justify their actions others might feel its OK to get an abortion. My only hope is that people don't abuse the right. I hope that helps

Yes you are alive when they start. Religion aside, any ending of life is murder. Before or after age of viability, killing a baby is murder. Whether you are religious or not, it doesn't change that fact.
