Do not think that I have come to abolish the law and the prophets; I have come not to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the law until all is accomplished. Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of Heaven (Matthew 5:17-20).

I think there is quite a fine line in expressing your curiosity in other religions with questions, and downright insulting them.

What I would like to see is some more philosophical questions, and less of "How can you atheists/Christians be so STUPID?"

Can anyone explain to me [in brief[ the principles of Buddhism?

I understand that Buddhists don't believe in a god as such & strive to make themselves personally pure.

Out of all the religions, this concept intrigues me most.

what is even dumber is the fact that so many of you are concerned about these prophesies regarding the end of the world! common ppl - why worry about something like that! if anything would happen then we all might as well pack in!
and if it does why not just be happy and if she blows so be it! BUT I THINK WE ALL KNOW THAT IS ALL JUST MAMBO JUMBO - RIGHT!

so , how many of you are concerned with this" end of the world " thing????

and if so , why not just live and let live???

I decided recently to look around for something else to worship. I wanted something I could really count on, and immediately, I thought of the sun. Happened like that. Overnight, I became a sun worshipper. Well not overnight, you can't see the sun at night. The first thing the next morning, I became a sun worshipper. Several reasons. First of all I can see the sun. OK. Unlike some other Gods I could mention, I can actually see the sun. I'm big on that. If I can see something, I don't know, kinda helps the credibility along. The sun gives me everything I need. Heat, light, food, flowers in the park, reflections on the lake, an occasional skin cancer, but hey, at least there are no crucifixions, and were not setting people on fire simply because they disagree with us.

I believe religion is a good idea but behind every good idea is a bad representation of it. Now a days I see people preach the ideas of religion even practice that religion according to custom but when the day is over they it seems like they hang their coat and call it a day. It almost seems like its a job being in a religion rather then having religion as a way to betterment of oneself. Most people in my opinion have a religion but lost the faith in believing what they preach. In many cases they would uses religion as an excuse to create conflict amongst society. I believe we have lost the idea of what religion is and now we're only trying to preach about our own religion only in the sense of trying to dominate other religion and not for the idea of helping one's fellow men and women. I'm sure there are exceptions but majority has lost their ways on their path of faith. Agree or disagree?

Jesus was supposed to be a carpenter, yet he never seemed to do much carpentry. He just went fishing all the time with his buddies. He said he was going to rebuild some temple in three days and is behind by like, 2000 years. I only see this kind of laziness in union workers or for people in the federal government, and since there wasn't a bureaucracy like there is today, does that mean he was employed by a union since it seems any reasonable boss would have fired him?

PHILADELPHIA, PA. – June 18, 2007 - Though the end-date of the Mayan 5125 year-old calendar isn’t for another five and a half years (December 21, 2012), movies and books declaring the end of life as we know it are reaching a critical mass in public awareness now. Sunbury Press, publisher of “the 100th human”- a novel centered on the Mayan calendar and recent Amazon #1 bestseller in visionary fiction, has given over 1500 copies to prisons, detention centers, International schools and alternative education sites around the world.

Well I am sure the Heathens won't take heed of this either.
Just my opinion but I think christians will be raptured before 2012 and this Polar Shift....
How concerned are you with the 2012 Prophecy?

My wife and I have great fun with them.

One of my favourite approaches is to tell them that if they can prove to me that god exists without making a reference to the bible, then I'm in.

Within an hour or so, they're feeling very frustrated as they start coming up with the "well, it'd better be moving on" lines.

It's also a great opportunity to encourage them to question their faith.

The trouble is........they never seem to want to come back.

Why don't they want to spend more time talking with people like us who are happy to discuss their religion with them?

We only get about one every two years now.

Do they have a map where they mark houses as "don't go there or you might get influenced by satan"?

I never do; I consider it rude and insensitive. It is also non-productive if not counter-productive,since it often increases their resistance to new concepts. I simply work my own beliefs into most of my questions and answers and let those who feel inclined to follow my postings do so. Does anyone feel they have ever succeeded in changing someone else's beliefs with aggression?

Apparently all your bad memories get erased...I don't know about you guys, but my bad memories keep me motivated to continue on. Then, there is no marital union in heaven--a life without my life partner? No thanks. Thirdly, about ninety years or so is quite enough for me--who in the world is selfish enough to need "forever"?

And, honestly, unless heaven is like something out of a James Bond movie (with extra action and excitement), then I'd hardly call it perfect. Just boresville.

My nephew is a disfellowshipped JW, as are his two sons, but his wife, and the boys' mother, certainly does not shun them. Her reasoning that "they are family" doesn't convince me she is following the rules laid down by the Watchtower writers.

if the jews realized that prophecy revealed that the messiah would be crucified, why didn't they kill jesus some other way? i'll admit, i'm a bit ignorant of the hebrew side of this story. so please, if there are any hebrews reading this question, please tell me your side of the story as far as what went down with jesus' death. is there anything written in old hebrew texts that account for jesus' death? i'd be interested to know. do the jews even recognize that there was a man named jesus who was killed by the jews for claiming to be god?
