Yes.
That's what it means.
But you won't see most Christians saying that.
They'll wiggle their way out of it.
You'll see.

Are you a Jew? Then keeping the Sabbath never applied to you and still doesn't.
As for doctors, nurses, etc. they are allowed to work on the Sabbath in the case of Pikuey Nefesh (saving a life), which has ALWAYS been allowed.
That's why the story of Jesus supposedly breaking the Sabbath by healing someone is bogus. It wasn't against the law at all. Neither was his picking or eating the wheat or whatever it was, because they were hungry. Those stories are absolutely bogus lies.
But then so is the whole "Pharisee" thing. The Pharisees were actually the PEOPLE'S representatives, they always went to bat for the common man, representing his needs, and were the compassionate ones.
It was the SADUCEES who were the "rich man's representatives" kind of like the Republicans of today. They didn't give a rat's a** about anyone or anything, just about who was lining their pockets. They were in league with the Romans, traitors to their people, besides.
Again, totally bogus about the Pharisees in the New Testament. So what else is new.
Judaism isn't BLIND OBEDIENCE to the laws, the laws are not meant to make people suffer or not get what they need.
All those things were permitted if it would save the life of a person. And further, if a person is already ill, they do not have to refrain from forbidden things on the Sabbath that would contribute to getting them well again. This was so then, and it is still so now.
And why are you even worried about it anyway? You aren't a Jew, so this never applied to you. Jesus didn't "free" you from something you were never bound by, did he. Kind of an impossibility.

First off, we need to break this into who believes what. Jews don't really focus on the hereafter, and they realise that there are some exceptions to every rule, so people who serve in these roles are allowed to work as needed. Same with Muslims. Christians believe that you should keep one day holy for the lord, but the exact day is left to the individual's discretion. That is why some churches hold service on sunday, some on saturday night, and some on friday night. They also believe that certain careers are exempt from certain laws, so even if you have to work on your sabbath, you can get a pass. It's more important to have a relationship with God than what day you keep holy.

Just read what it says on the Ten Commandments. Keeping the Sabbath holy means to study and learn about God and get to know Him. Dedicate that one day a week to Him. It means not doing ordinary, mundane things like shopping, doing laundry, paying bills, etc, because it distracts from focusing on Him. Also, keeping the Sabbath Holy means to seperate it from all other days, meaning not to make it like any other day of the week. "On the seventh day He rested" and rested does not mean lay on the couch and be lazy. Anybody can do this, not just Jews, but Christians too. If they choose. Some one on this list sounds angry sounds like a know it all. By the way, you can't teach people anything by being angry and behaving like a know-it-all. Your ranting is a huge turn off to me.

The Sabbath falls on Saturday, the seventh day of the week, just so everyone is clear on that. It's not Sunday...like people may think.
I personally have never made an effort to rest on the Sabbath...but I think it would be nice if everyone spent one day in praise of God, He's done so much for us...it's the least we could do. But Jesus did heal on the Sabbath, and he got chastised for it by the Sanhedrin...the Jewish leaders at the time. So by Jesus' example, working on the Sabbath is ok as long as the work is helping others, and therefore bringing glory to God.

Nit picking again. necessary support services of which you describe are allowed.
As Jesus Said, would you not retrieve a sheep who had fallen into a well on the Sabbath.
I worked nursing homes for many years, we rotated schedules so people would have at least 2 Sabbath off a month.

is it more a sin to ignore those in need at the hospital or to work on the sabbath??? yet another thing I disagree with in the christian religion. And if my house is burning down on a Sunday I sure as heck dont want the firemen to say," sorry its sunday."

I believe it is important to take A sabbath. It's not about church as much as it is about rest.
I take a sabbath on Saturday often times, but go to church on Sunday.
Doctors, etc. can take a rest on another day................
Besides, the only thing that will send you to hell is not dealing with your sin problem -- by receiving the forgiveness Christ offers. You should rest, yes, but it won't send you to hell.

Jesus said the needs of others must come first and foremost, so seving the needs of those in need is LAWFUL.What is meant here is than man should NOT go out and seek work strictly for the sake of pay for the sake of money itself, but rest on the Sabbath. For those who provide a service for the needs of others, the rule that a worker deserves his pay is still valid, just like on a regular workday.

Not if you read this scripture, Colossians 2:9-17, So don't let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not keeping a celebration, certain holy days or new moon ceremonies or SABBATHS. you will never hear that scripture read in church because it goes against all the man made doctrines that they teach.
