if the jews realized that prophecy revealed that the messiah would be crucified, why didn't they kill jesus some other way? i'll admit, i'm a bit ignorant of the hebrew side of this story. so please, if there are any hebrews reading this question, please tell me your side of the story as far as what went down with jesus' death. is there anything written in old hebrew texts that account for jesus' death? i'd be interested to know. do the jews even recognize that there was a man named jesus who was killed by the jews for claiming to be god?

The Jews didn't recognize the OT prophecies of his coming OR his death.....They were blinded by pride and hatred of Christ....and only pretended to know what the OT Scriptures were all about.

1. They did not recognize Him as the Messiah, because they were waiting for a king in clothing.
2. They recognize Him and a teacher.
3. They pursued His death, because He broke the Sabbath by healing on that day, and claiming to speak the word of God when He was teaching, which was only the privilege of the high priest.
The only Jews who now recognize Jesus, as Lord are known as reformed Jews.
Your relationship with God is a personal issue, it appears you are searching, may God Bless You in your search.
Jesus, was destined to die anyway, That was God's plan, the sacrife of His Son, to cover the past, present and all future sin of man, who believe in Him.

Jesus fulfilled the prophecy. It happened exactly as it in the Old Testament. No one took Jesus' life,no Jew and no Romans ( which were basically atheists )He gave it away so that sin will never be separating us from Him in heaven if we accept Him as our Savior.
Jesus is one of the most documented persons in history, even outside of the Bible. The Jews are still waiting for Messiah.

There was separation of "Church & State" when Jesus was alive. Church was mainly Jewish (in then Palestine) ... State was Roman Empire headed by Cesar.
Since Jesus did not commit a crime against the Jewish "Torah" he was under the authority of the Roman's. Rome did have a crime against naming yourself above Cesar. Since Jesus was "accused" of calling himself "God" that put him above Cesar.
On the Passover feast (Moses) ... the Roman's allowed the "Town" to free a criminal. As such Pontius Pilot strongly suggested freeing "Jesus" but the crowd (who were mainly Jewish with a few Roman's) went into "Mob-Mentality" and screamed 4 the release of Barabas (a killer).
Now I'm not a full on advocate for Paris Hilton ... but if you look at this story ... the media is screaming for her head over demanding a true criminal like John Mark Karr be put away. I personally, would like to see us get past mob-mentalities --- Especially in the MEDIA!!!

There is nothing in prophesy concerning Crucifixion. The Romans were only allowed to crucify, so quit blaming the Jews. Not all Jews wanted him crucified.

The Jews didn't kill Jesus..it was the Kenites....(those that claim to be of the House of Judah).
Pilate exonerated Jesus..it was the CROWD of Kenites that demanded His death.

He was killed because he said was the son of God and compared himself to God.( Which he was God in a human body ) Crucifixion was the most punishing and suffering form of torture back then .
