In John's Gospel (1:7) the Evangelist says: "He came as a witness to testify to the light, so that all might believe through him". Now how does the Evangelist mean 'witness' and 'to testify to the light'?

Some very religious people including priests and Catholic religious vote for pro-abortion politicians..

Many do not consider abortion to be a moral compass issue.. How many people have asked their Priests and Reverends what they think on this issue and if each votes for pro-abortion politicians and why.. Some vote for pro-abortion politicians because the same pro-abortion politicians vow to help the poor, improve education or some other social issue. As a result because of this voting booth reality, abortion might be permanent, here to stay.. What do you think? I struggle with this..

the world exists and would be considered something .... common sense

it is not possible as far as we know to create something from nothing ..... common sense

therefore the conclusion that something has always existed and is eternal... common sense

now if you follow existance throughout all time... the source for all things that exist... is God.... common sense

now I use the term God to denote the name of that which has always been... the eternal something from which all things came...

some would disagree and say we evolved from and event at the beginning of time called the big bang... and I would say if that was true then didn't something bang together... common sense

and if something did bang then didn't it exist... common sense

so the next question is what banged together to start the chain of events that lead to us here discussing it... and NO ONE can say with certainty... so I just refer back to my original statement that

Everything came from something that has always existed how and why are left to arguement among the many ideas... but none the less I will call this existance GOD... an existance or being or force or whatever you want to call it... as the source of my exist and therefore my creator

now doesn't that make common sense? (seriously)

I have seen that people who have disprespectful opinions about a religion are vulnerable to violent outbursts from members of that religion. Even if you yourself would not react, would you justify the violence commited by others?

...it's a petition to alert the British government to the plight of many Gurkha soldiers who are left without support from the UK after they complete their service and was brought about after an 84 year old Gurkha veteran, decorated with the VC, was refused entry in to Britain for citizenship and even medical treatment.

If you would like to sign please do so; I don't often get up on my soap box but really think something needs to be done here.

If you aren't in agreement, or don't want to sign, then please don't leave a rude, hateful or imflammatory statement.

Thanks!

If they don't agree with a person's religion and beliefs, wouldn't it be better for everyone else if they just kept it to themselves instead of lashing out against them.

apparently satan only "tempts" christians, because the atheists and non christians are already going to hell with him. so only the believers have to worry about satan's evil ways. this implies that he is only real if you believe in him. this also leads to thinking that god is only real if you believe in him.

What is your opinion on the nature of the mark of the beast?

Is it happening now?

Will everyone on earth recieve the mark?

Is it something physical like barcodes, or denominations of money?

Is it spiritual?

Could it be a metaphor for something else entirely?

"The only reason so many Christians are in jail is that Satan tempts us Christians. He doesn't bother to tempt atheists because he already knows they are going to burn in hell."

i think it's funny that satan doesn't bother with non christians. it makes you wonder why you should bother being a christian when satan is always working against you. wouldn't being a moral atheist or other of another religion make more sense?

In the 1860's, there was a common belief that some more "basic" animals could simply form out different substances. Maggots could form in rotting meat, worms formed from dirt, certain toads could form in mud. The belief was called "Spontaneous Generation" and was used to explain a lot of things science didn't understand yet.

Darwin applied this same silly superstitious belief to answering one of the most important questions ever asked...How did life begin on Earth? He said that in a pool of some unknown "primordial soup" the correct conditions existed for the spontaneous formation of life.

Here's the best part....you believe it! Why???

I know their are the Jim Jones weirdo's.But I am unaware of Protestants starting any kind of a Holy war against mankind.I see on here that people say how Christians have killed all of these people in the past but these were the Catholics.NOTE: I do not consider Catholics to be Christians as they do not attain to the word of God.

I want to learn more about nonbelief. What are the best books regarding the atheist point-of-view--English, French, or German.

No need for anyone to waste his or her time attacking me for seeking--I am not remotely interesting in what you think..."if" you think.

If you live in a good home, have plenty to eat and can read, you are a member of a very select group. And if you have a good house, food, can read and have a computer, you are among the very elite.
If you woke up this morning with more health than illness... you are more fortunate than the million who will not survive this week.

If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation... you are ahead of 500 million people in the world.

If you can attend a church meeting, or any sort of community or faith based gathering, without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death...you are fortunate, more than three billion people in the world can't.

If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a place to sleep...you are richer than 75% of this world.

If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace...you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy.

If you hold up your head with a smile on your face and are truly thankful... you are blessed because the majority can, but most do not.

If you can hold someone's hand, hug them or even touch them on shoulder...you are blessed because you can offer them a healing touch.

when in actuality it's the christians who are more likely to sin because all they have to do is repent away their sins after each one is committed.

christians have a get out of jail free card with their beliefs. god will forgive any sin as many times as need be, according to them. atheists live by a moral code that does not require a fear of god to make them be good.

i would be more concerned about christians sinning than atheists - take a look at the christian population vs atheists in jail. overwhelmingly christian
