In the time between the evening of the Sixth day and the morning of the Seventh, there are three things created by God; the Abyss, the grave of Moses, and the tongs without tongs, (Mishnah Bereshith) Creation is Creation and God is busy at it,,Genesis 1 was a Babylonian myth remade to show the importance of the Sabbath, as found in the Covenant on Mt. Sinai where the Bible begins. Genesis 2 is an older story showing God's care for humanity and the earth in the figures of Adam and Eve made from the clay, Eve being drawn from the side of man, showing that she is equal and not a separate creation. Paul in Ephesians says, "No man hates his own body." And Jesus in Mark's Gospel says, "The two shall be one." Both make reference to Law rather than historical narrative.

Jim, there is a physical reality and there is a spiritual reality, St. Paul speaks of both and he frames his argument in terms of the Creation from Genesis, "As in ADAM all die, even so in Christ shall all be made to live." and as was said above, "If anyone be in Christ, he IS A NEW CREATION." This says to me (again as said above) that creation is ongoing. God is not limited by your understanding of day, week, or Usher's 4,00 years.

Because when we accept Jesus as our Saviour, WE become "a new Creation" in Christ. That's what it means to be "born - again".

God is NEVER finished creating....babies are born every day, and people are saved every day!

Dear Al,

When one has been saved (redeemed) by the Lord Jesus Christ, the person becomes a "new creation" in Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:17 states, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." That is, the person is given a new resurrected soul in which they never want to sin again. That individual loves the Lord and wants to be obedient to His word. We read in 1 John 2:3, 4 "And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him."

You must also remember that when Jesus returns He will destroy the present universe and create a new one in which there is no sin.

God created the heavens and the earth and everything in them in six days.

New Creation does not refer to the six days at all and not about anything physical that God created. It is about man/woman/child accepting Christ and becoming "new" in spirit, not new in flesh.

The Bible says - "All things become new to them who believe." This means we have a "new" outlook on everything and everyone in God's original creation in which we live today.

It is a spiritual matter.

1 Corinthians 15 speaks of shedding our sinful lives and being born again into new lives - a "new creation." We receive new hearts with new desires. This is to do with the soul and not a physical creation.

Im still trying to figure out why an all powerful God needs 6 days to create anything... Shouldnt an all powerful deity be able to spring forth the entire creation with the snap of his fingers, instantaneously???? And, what the heck does an all powerful deity need a day of rest for???

Are you talking about the resurrection of Christ and the resurrection of the body? I'm not sure what your question is.
