Did you know the Catholics are mixing Simon Peter with Simon Magus?
Peter was not a Catholic and certainly was not the head apostle. He was always listed third and never before James. AND Paul admonished him multible times and Peter was not able to debate Paul because Paul was a better Christian and more knowledgable.
Besides, there is no evidence to link the second Pope with Peter. The true head of the religion was based in Jerusalem, not Rome.

Dear gg28,

You are correct in that Peter was married, but he was not a pope. Peter stayed in Judea tp minister to the christians there. He did not go to other lands as Paul and Barnabus did.

There were a lot of Pope's who were married. Priests were allowed to marry until only a few hundred years ago.

Actually, priests of Eastern Rite (Byzantine) Catholics in Europe have always been allowed to be married (before they are ordained). The ones in America can't, though, because the Latin Rite priests didn't like it and got in a snit.

Do you know that we Catholics are well aware that Priests once were allowed to marry? Some priests from other faiths who are married have converted and become married Catholic priests. Live as you are called.

So? Does that make it a doctrinal issue?? He also wore sandals. Does that mean that priests today must wear sandals?
