Pride is essentially competitive in nature. It is measuring ourselves against others using factors such as intellect, opinions, work, wealth, talent, etc.
C. S. Lewis summed it up beautifully:
“Pride gets no pleasure out of having something, only out of having more of it than the next man. … It is the comparison that makes you proud: the pleasure of being above the rest. Once the element of competition has gone, pride has gone.”
Pride has many faces: contention, disobedience, selfishness, conceit, self-centeredness, arrogance, etc.
If you want to see the great talk where I got this from, go to lds.org and look up the word pride. I know it's a religious point of view but it has good points that I think everyone should see.

Now pride is not really a sin. After all my mom told me to take pride in my work and accomplishments and i felt proud. Like when i made my confirmation in the Catholic faith. But if you use pride for your own vain and selfish purposes and thinking you're better than anyone else. Then it's a sin. There's a old saying, "Pride goes before fall." Take a look at what happened to Lucifer and his angelic beings. They were defeated because they thought they could outsmart God but it didn't work. But remember the number one virtue is humility. And there's a famous church hymn, "How great thou art."

Sure. Someone says to me, thank you so much for praying for me. After you prayed, I went home and I felt so much lighter. And what you prayed about, it went just fine, thank you so, so much.
I take credit for the good outcome of my prayer, instead of giving all the glory to God. All good and perfect things come from above, the glory should never, never go to me.
If I think that I actually can take credit for answered prayer, that is pride. Nothing wrong with rejoicing with the person I prayed for....and thanking God for hearing us....but there is a big difference between that and getting a big head, if you know what I mean!

that's no longer intricate and this does not have scripture in it, regardless of the undeniable fact that it is a 'deadly sin' through fact satisfaction would reason you to, working example, while you're struggling with a conflict and you be attentive to you will lose, however the different ingredient promises a peace treaty and you do no longer settle for considering the fact which you're too proud, you will ultimatly unfastened the conflict, your land, your existence through fact of your satisfaction. to no longer point out taking plenty with you. So, satisfaction impacts your judgements and would make you're making judgements which at the instant are not good.

Pride-Feminine from H1342; arrogance: - pride.
Proverbs 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
When a person has pride that is to be arrogant, to know more than you actually do, you eventually end up self destructing. We have a creator that is all knowing, and that is the Almighty God. We need to turn to Him for daily advice through out our day.
God knows what is best. But those who are way tooooo proud to admit that they actually need God in their life, would be in their mind admit to being weak, and they are way toooo proud to do that. Those people will always fail in life and in death as well.
I would much rather admit that I need God in my life and be successful in this life as well as after my death, than be so proud not to turn to God or Jesus in life, and self destruct.
People may look at me as being weak, and that does not bother me, because I'm not weak. Because my strength to endure what ever happens in my life comes from my continued faith in God and in what Jesus has done for me. Praise the Lord!
Proverbs 8:14 Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.
Job 12:13 With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding.

I believe that pride is somehow linked to stupidity. It is the fact that u believe u r so perfect that u do not need correction frm anybody. Confidence is good. It only turns bad when it turns into arrogance. Once u start believing everything u do is ryt, u r indirectly comparing urself to God. And that is the true sin.

God hates pride with a passion...
Leviticus 26:19
I will break down your stubborn pride and make the sky above you like iron and the ground beneath you like bronze.
Job 20:6
Though his pride reaches to the heavens and his head touches the clouds
Psalm 10:4
In his pride the wicked does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God.
Psalm 31:18
Let their lying lips be silenced, for with pride and contempt they speak arrogantly against the righteous.
The definition of pride is...a high or inordinate opinion of one's own dignity, importance, merit, or superiority, whether as cherished in the mind or as displayed in bearing, conduct, etc.

Being too stubborn to admit that you make mistakes (or commit sins) for one. How can you learn from your mistakes and improve yourself, if you never admit to being wrong in the first place? One cannot ask for forgiveness if one believes that he has nothing to be forgiven for, so pride prevents one from asking God for forgiveness of sins. You cannot receive, if you do not ask.

Pride is a sin when it leads you do not recognize God's part of the sucesses in your life. Excessive pride does not recognize that your gifts and talents are from God.

To me the sin of Pride, Is saying Look what I did,, You are here to give glory to God,, It should be,, Look what I was able to do with the Grace of God,, God is the one that gives you what you need to do what you need to do,, Without God You are Lost.. And no matter what you do it seems to never work the way You think it should work...
