because Religion is based on hate, Science is based on logic.

Religion has always been under attack. Even during the time of Christ. This is the reason the church has had to endure persecution because of the faith.
Science doesn't bring out the worst in people like religion does. The Science section will also involve more Educators and highly cognitive thinking people. In Religion everybody has an opinion. The Educated as well as the unlearned.

One section deals with reality as it is found on earth. There is usually evidence to support their view and the common thread among them is the search for truth as it exists in this dimension.
The other section deals with reality as it does not exist here in this dimension. There are several camps that have theories, but no proof, and another camp that has proof and no theories. The people with the proof want the others to see it, and the ones without the proof want to prove the ones with proof wrong. The common thread, each side thinks they are right and is unwilling to back down from the others.

Because most of the people frequenting the Religion section are juveniles who are just looking to pick on people they consider religious zealots.
Most of the people frequenting the Science section are looking for straight answers.

I've participated in both forums. In the science section, people are usually looking for information, either for a school project or personal interest. As such, the material is usually not controversial.
The R&S forum, on the other hand, is only rarely about people looking for information out of curiosity. Typically, it involves either trying to convince others that your point of view is correct or that theirs is not; the resulting contentiousness of the forum then attracted a fair bit of trolling. Like that guy trolling about squids.

In the olden days, they just killed each other. Many muslims still do. Some christians have evolved (I apologize to christians, let me say instead that they 'were created') to whine and insult each other instead. That seems to be a very effective way to resolve whose god is right. It may not be a perfect method, but no better method has yet been devised for determining whose tooth fairy is truly the one that leaves the penny under the pillow.

I wonder if anyone knows who does more of the insulting. Quite honestly, I think Atheists lead the pack by a far margin and they are very condescending at times.

Because you have people here who call religion and God a delusion. Think about that, even Dawkins book is called "The God Delusion". That is not very respectful, is it? I do not call the Muslim God a delusion or the Buddhist philosophy a delusion. People come in here to attack religion. Others are here to defend it.

Scientists are robots, obviously. Not very intellectually adept.
We all have thick skin over here. That's the only thing that allows this sort of free speech to continue. It's a beautiful thing.

Because in science, you have only evidence that proves or disproves a hypothesis. In religion, you have nothing other than hurling insults at those that disagree with you.

Scientists base most arguments on facts and so there is not as much room for emotion. Religion is based on beliefs so many people become emotional because no one can prove who is right.
