Some very religious people including priests and Catholic religious vote for pro-abortion politicians..

Many do not consider abortion to be a moral compass issue.. How many people have asked their Priests and Reverends what they think on this issue and if each votes for pro-abortion politicians and why.. Some vote for pro-abortion politicians because the same pro-abortion politicians vow to help the poor, improve education or some other social issue. As a result because of this voting booth reality, abortion might be permanent, here to stay.. What do you think? I struggle with this..

If one believes abortion is murder...and I would imagine everyone would agree that it is a sin to vote for murder...then yes voting for abortion is a sin.

Those who say we simply vote for a choice and not the sin...would you also vote to give a person the choice to murder another? Such reasoning is not thought out (or is and is perhaps ignored in its conclusion).

For myself...I can not vote for a candidate that supports abortion.

Some would argue that it is a sin, if you vote for a pro-abortion candidate specifically because they're pro-abortion.

If you're pro-life, but don't consider abortion as an issue when you vote for someone, then some would argue that it's not really sin because you're not intentionally enabling abortion.

Myself, as a Catholic, I want to know where candidates stand on all the life issues, including abortion, so that I can vote for them or against them accordingly.

I'm not a single-issue voter, but abortion is a very important issue that I consider when voting for someone.

In some cases, the two major candidates for a political office might both be pro-abortion at least to some degree.

In that case, a pro-life voter should either vote for the person who's least against abortion, or vote for a third-party candidate, or abstain.

For instance, if it's Giuliani vs. Hillary Clinton next year, the pro-life voter has a big choice to make.

Both candidates favor legalized abortion, but Hillary's support for abortion is much more widespread. She thinks ANY abortion at ANY time during pregnancy is okay, whereas Giuliani is generally pro-abortion but does favor certain limits on it.

To me, the question is "Which candidate is closest to the Catholic teaching on abortion?"

Rudy and Hillary are both far from the Catholic teaching, but Rudy is closer to it than Hillary is. Thus, he would probably get my vote.

It seems rather hypocritical to me to vote for someone purely based on one issue. Particularly this one. How does one weigh the different part of a politician's platform? For instance, say you have GOP candidate who wants to outlaw abortion, but who is very pro-death penalty, who is a strong supporter of the "strike first, think second" kind of mentality that seems prevalent in our nation's military and government these days, and who supports big business over protecting God's green earth. How do you decide that abortion is the only issue of importance amongst all of that and vote based on that one point?

Logically, it doesn't make sense. Elections are about picking the right (or best) person for the job, not about any one particular issue (no matter how many times a political party tells you it is). Things are never black and white...there are a million shades of gray. If you want to vote well and really help our country, always do your research, watch the debates...be an informed voter.

Ephesians 5:6-8

6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light.

I have always felt that is was wrong to vote for a man that would say it is ok if a woman chooses to KILL her baby.

Read Psalm 106:33-43 It is a terrible thing that happened then. God will do this again because of the shedding of innocent blood of their sons and daughters.

I think it depends on why they vote the way they do (did). If it is to enable a person whose life is at risk (or one who has a severely deformed fetus) to seek an abortion I think a result of Sin would be no, If it is to allow themselves (or others) to use abortion as a means of birth control I think a result of Sin would be yes.
Intent is everything.

Abortion, unfortunately, has become the birth control of choice nowadays and a billion dollar industry. Politicians may say they support it but they are actually supporting their buddies who are getting rich from this process. In the case of rape and/or incest, It is understandable. However the vast majority of procedures are performed for "convenience." Ladies and gentlemen, if you can't take the heat, keep the zippers up and the pants on!

A SIN ACCORDING TO WHO? YES? NO? MAYBE? WHO KNOWS?

PEOPLE HAVE INSISTED ON DISCUSSING THESE ISSUES IN THE MOST CONTROLED MANNER WHERE QUESTIONS SUCH AS YOURS ARE FASHIONED TO RESULT IN SPECIFIC ANSWERS I OBJECT TO THE QUESTIONS AND THE ANSWERS FOR THE ANSWER IS NO DEFINATELY NOT BUT INCINUATIONS IN THE WAY THE QUESTION IS POSED IS AS IT IS AS IF THE ONLY PEOPLE IN THE WIORLD HAVE TO BE FOR AND AGAINST ISSUES MAINLY FROM A SELF-SERVING PERSPECTIVE OF WHAT THEY WOULD DO. GENERALLY I DON'T BELIEVE IN ABORTIONS, "CAN I SAY WHEN SOMEONE HAS AN ABORTION IT IS A SIN?" ABSOLUTELY NOT BECAUSE SIN IS A QUESTION OF MINDSET PERSPECTIVE AND NOT AN ACTUAL ACT BUT A STATE OF MIND AND GUILT.

Apparently it is. Many Catholic Mexican politicians almost got excommunicated from the Catholic Church after they passed pro-abortion legislation in Mexico.

Jesus said let the little ones come to HIM for such is the kingdom of God. Killing is killing. I know that we have to have war but abortion is and never will be right. Jesus didnt want anyone of HIS children killed like this. If you say you are a christian then you need to vote no to abortion.

The knowledge of sin is by the law. If a Christian believes in their heart that abortion is wrong and vote for, it is a sin. The opposite is also true. That's why education is important so the killing of babies will stop.
