In John's Gospel (1:7) the Evangelist says: "He came as a witness to testify to the light, so that all might believe through him". Now how does the Evangelist mean 'witness' and 'to testify to the light'?

The "light" he speaks of is Jesus Christ, who is often referred to as the Light of the world. The phrase "to testify to the light" means to testify regarding the Deity of Jesus and the Christian movement at that time..He came as a witness, since he knew Jesus personally.

Peace be with you.

Yes, John and the 12 Apostles knew Jesus from foundation of the world. Revelation 12.

I ask you this question, "This is the record of John,"
John then tells who he is, and for what purpose he has come.

When did John declare that his record had stopped.
Now Read Revelations 1, These are both the record, of John the Baptist.

John speaks as no Apostle, but as someone who was there from the beginning.

Remember Jesus said "Lazarus come forth" could he not do the same with John the Baptist after he was beheaded.

John the Baptist was with Jesus from the beginning, and was also born of the Holy Ghost.
Remember, Jesus ordained 12, and sent out 70.

Jesus also said those who are great amoung you, shall be the servant, not the master.

Why was John so down on Moses and the Prophets ?
