What is your opinion on the nature of the mark of the beast?

Is it happening now?

Will everyone on earth recieve the mark?

Is it something physical like barcodes, or denominations of money?

Is it spiritual?

Could it be a metaphor for something else entirely?

It could be symbolic....

But then again.....it could be literal.

I don't think it's happening yet.....

The book of Revelation is a tough one to swallow sometimes.....we should concentrate more on what we know:

That Jesus Christ will return someday soon!!

Noone knows the exact identity. But understanding there is a difference between the False Prophet and the Beast is essential to comprehending what to look for.

1) Could be happening now, but is not dominating as THE power on Earth.

2) No, not everyone will recieve the mark. There are some who know what to watch for.

3) Could be, but more probably the forehead is belief and adherance to the belief, and the hand represents physical interaction with, i.e. money or credit cards or anything we rely upon.

4) Probable. It is spiritual.

5) It is both metaphor in ways and literal in others.

The basic understanding will tell you it is not popularly resisted. There are billions of Christians and over a billion Muslims. How many do you think, if it happened right now, would know they are doing wrong?

The mark of the beast was probably symbolic of emperor worship in some way.
No, it would have happened while Nero (who was 666, by the way) was emperor of Rome.
Not everyone on earth received it (Rome ruled, more or less, the "known world"), there were people in China, India, and the Americas that may not have even had knowledge of Rome.

Revelation is not a prophecy of "end times"; it was a spiritual well-being book for Christians being persecuted by the Roman Empire.

Dear vince,

The mark of the beast, mentioned in Revelation is metaphorical in nature. It is not a literal "mark." As you read through Revelation, you will note that the "mark" designates ownership. Satan is the antichrist (1 John 4:3) and if we study the Bible, we also find that satan is the beast (It would take many Scriptures to show this).

Therefore, those who have the "mark of the beast" are owned by satan. They are his property. Notice that the mark is in the forehead or the hand. The head and hand are synonyms for our will. Those who are the property of satan think and act according to satan's will. We (people) cannot "see" the mark of the beast but God does. He knows who are His sheep and who are not. Notice in Revelation 3:12 that God will put His name on those whom He has saved out of humanity.

The mark of the beast will be a visible. It will be on the person's hand or fore head. Some believe that it will be an computer chip.

No, it is not happening now. This event will not happen till the church is rapture out.

The majority of those who are left behind will most likely recieved the mark.

It could be, to accept the mark would be a spirtual death.

last question would be no.

The mark of the beast is not happening now. It will be associated directly with the anti-Christ (aka the beast). Only those who willing accept this mark will receive it and once they do...they are doomed to hell. I think it will be something physical. Could be a bar code or a simple mark of some type. It is about as spiritual as you can get. This is dealing with your eternity. By taking the mark you are bowing down to the anti-Christ and are making a choice against God. There will be no turning back once you accept that mark. God bless you.

The mark is both spiritual and physical. The mark on the forehead is what your mind believes
the mark on the hand is how you act out that belief.
It is not an actual mark but a metaphorical one

There is a new chip that was going to come out into the market in 2005 ( I haven't heard much about it since then)... it flowed in the blood stream, and it was supposed to help people with cripllling illnesess. The idea was that if they were brought in to a hospital, unconscious--then they could be "scanned" and all their medical info would be in those nano-chips...

That could be the begginings of what is known as the mark of the beast.. It's a little scary... For those chips could easily be changed to hold economic information, or citizenship records...etc.

I don't usually belive much in superstitions...but I figure, why take a chance? Especially on this one....

The mark of the beast means total buy-in or marriage of an individual to evil and falseness.

Since the Bible is about the Lord and the church, there would be a time that nobody could buy or sell (learn or teach) without corrupt doctrines.

That time, according to Swedenborg is already past and good doctrine can again be learned and taught.

Anyone who can answer this accurately would truly be the greatest Bible scholar who ever lived.

Revelations was written in order to reveal the day and hour of the return of Jesus but who can decipher the symbols and figures of speech? The message is - Jesus can come at any moment in time.

My advice - Ignore the "signs" and be ready to leave in the "twinkling of an eye".

For what it's worth - I have degrees in Christian Theology and Pastoral Counseling.
