Help me! I'm talking to a guy online and he absolutely won't believe in anything. He's an atheist. I really need more proof that there is a Jesus and a God, and the evil side too. He does believe in ghosts and aliens too! I'm trying to do good and turn someone away from atheism. Help!

Some christians seem to have a real problem with atheists pointing out the illogical aspects of their faith.

They wonder why we see it as being important to constantly question their beliefs and ask why we don't leave them alone.

Do they not understand that it bothers us when the most powerful man in the world says that god told him to invade Afghanistan?

Do they not understand that we want our children to learn science in the classroom and not religious dogma that is claiming to be science?

Do they not realise that religion discourages freedom of thought?

Yes, you guys are free to have beliefs, but I reserve the right, and always will, to be critical of them. I care too much about my childrens' future not to.

You say Christians/Musslims are sillly for praying to a God you don't believe exists?
Don't you think you look just as silly for condemning someone you don't think exists?
In fact, you look worse-you're condemning someone you don't really believe yourself is there.

For me, most of the time I could care less what people say of me, unless I know them deeply then of course I care..

But I feely deeply offended when someone speaks derogatory about GOD and Jesus Christ that is what gets my dander up
maybe because of what Jesus had to take from mankind to save humanity.

What about you?

Today is Friday the 13th - considered by many to be a day of evil and bad luck. But, does anyone ever wonder WHY it is considered that?? Well, once again, we can thank the Christians for evil deeds and demonizing other cultures...

Friday was actually considered quite lucky by pre-Christian Teutonic peoples, we are told — especially as a day to get married — because of its traditional association with love and fertility. All that changed when Christianity came along. The goddess of the sixth day — most likely Freya in this context, given that the cat was her sacred animal — was recast in post-pagan folklore as a witch, and her day became associated with evil doings.
Another historical fact is it came about not as the result of a convergence, but a catastrophe, a single historical event that happened nearly 700 years ago.

The catastrophe was the decimation of the Knights Templar, the legendary order of "warrior monks" formed during the Christian Crusades to combat Islam.

How else do you get dozens of denominations?
Catholics, Orthodox, Baptists, Lutherans, Adventists, Methodists, Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, Pentacostals... the list goes on.

Each and every denomination can quote verses that support their position and deny others'. Each other denomination feels that those verses are being misinterpreted, but that their own interpretation is the actual "truth."

Yet, for some strange reason, each one will maintain that the bible doesn't contradict itself... and will agree with someone of another denomination who also feels this way! It boggles the mind.

So how do you justify the multitude of denominations? (not to mention the Jews who disagree with much of Christians' interpretation of the Old Testament.) Is there some Christian disease that keeps you from looking through another's eyes, and seeing that your own arguments can be used against you?

Im writin a script for college & I want to make it as correct as possible in terms of the religious beliefs etc.
Im wondering if someone could explain purgatory 2 me simply? as Im having many problems trying 2 understand-

1. Why people go there? Why isn't it a simple good= heaven bad= hell kinda thing?
2. How do people get to heaven/hell via purgatory? or is there no way out?

On the net i have got
'purgatory is for for those who, departing this life in God's grace, are, not entirely free from venial faults, or have not fully paid the satisfaction due to their transgressions'

from that, all me & my parents can decipher is that its where you go if you have sinned but aint bad enough to go to hell? or havn't fully repented before death?
possibly babies with original sin? Or do ppl still believe in limbo. i heard that belief had been eradicated O_o

I dont quite understand alot of the words so id like it in simple terms & without people telling me 2 accept Jesus Christ.

If a child went into a coma before the age of reason, and awoke for 5 minutes sometime after the age of reason, didn't think about God at all, then died after going back into a coma, did he miss his only chance of being saved?

I see a lot of insult flinging from Christians to non-Christians and vice versa. Why? When someone asks a question about atheism or something you don't believe in, why do Christians have to insult them or post some cliche Christian response that doesn't have anything to do with the question? Just answer the question nicely and if you can't do that, move on to another question.
Non-Christians too. When a Christian asks a question about their faith, why do you post insults about how stupid we are or how ignorant or how we are just followers? Why can't you just nicely share your opinion and leave it at that? Why do we have to argue or try to convert each other?
Is everyone just having a knee-jerk reaction to how they expect to be treated on here? Are you letting out your aggressions on faceless people?
