How many universes have there been? Were the laws of physics different for each of them? Did some have life forms as we know them and some not?

Can mankind ever expect to truly grasp the enormity of it all or the potential for variety?

Do you ever think about stuff like that?

Some people don't realize that this forum has adults also, but still sometimes if they don't agree with what a questioner - they start flaming or verbally attacking the questioner in such a cold-hearted and inconsiderate manner & they do not have an intelligent reasoning to back it up with. It's ok if you disagree with the questioner's point, but at least can't you do so politely and intelligently? You must realize that people here come from different countries and cultures & they feel very disheartened and offended by such ill-mannered attacks. Please, I beg you to just think about it.

Aren't athiest religious in a sense that they choose to believe in something when they believe in nothing? They BELIEVE that there is no God and no need for religion but isn't belief in SOMETHING a part of religion? I once met this guy who was athiest and if you mearly mentioned anything about religion he would try to discredit you and tell you the reasons why you should NOT believe in God or any religion. However, I did not sit there and try to beat into his head the reasons why he should believe. I respected his views in why he believed there is no God but he had no right to question my beliefs and question the reasons why I believed if I did not question his. Why is it so wrong for me to believe in a positive entity that I find inspirational and motivating. I turn to prayer for its healing powers and for the healing powers of others. Why must you attack my beliefs if I respect yours?

and how the Earth was created by God, in detail, with the formation of continents, oceans, etc., as though it was a lesson in Geology.

My question is, do you really believe this stuff?

I notice many Christians on here have uttered the phrase "well, if you don't believe, you are going to hell...", or some variation thereof.

However, have we forgotten the idea of "judge not lest ye be judged"? If there was, I don't know, a Buddhist or Atheist somewhere who preached love and forgiveness, wouldn't he be accepted into heaven as easily as a Christian?

But even worse, in my eyes, is someone who says they are a Christian, and does not act like it (Jerry Falwell, anyone?). These people are lying about their faith, which is a very bad sin.

I am a Catholic, but I don't try to convert people to my religion. Instead, I just try to get them to be moral. For instance, I am strongly against abortion. Not for any religious reasons, but simply because I fell that ending a human life is a bad idea. Period.

So who is worse? Someone who is only pretending to be a Christian, or an Atheist who may not be enlightened by the faith, but still (unknowingly?) leads a Christian lifestyle?

Considering churches are big businesses, why would the pastor of these churches tell their congregations anything other than what is printed in the Bible? In other words, if new truth was found outside of the Bible, what incentives do the pastor have for telling his congregation this new truth?

Or is it shaped by the beliefs of the people who lived in the area at the time. I'm asking because there's this nasty little rumor that there were several prototypes for the story of Jesus and some of them pre-date Jesus by as much as 3000 years, or 1500 years before the Old Testement if you count that way. What do you think? Any truth to this?

Please try to respond with verifiable facts, and not conjecture about diabolical plots by characters in one story to discredit characters in another. Thank you for your participation.
