Could it be that they are searching, and come in the disguise of 'atheist' or a genuine seeker of the truth?

If you search for me with all your heart, you will find me - says God.

This is a true story. The other day an atheist I know found a bag laying by the sidewalk. In it was a wallet, several credit cards, a cell phone, a check book, a watch and some other things of value. She found the guys address in the check book and took the bag to the apartment complex office where he lived. It turned out the bag belonged to an older gentleman in a wheelchair who was incredibly happy to get it back. His response was "God was sure watching out for me!" She just smiled and was happy that he was so happy, but she felt like maybe she should have said something about her being an atheist to the guy. What do you think?

I know a lot of Christian liberals, but it seems like all atheists are way out there. (I'll stereotype like they do)

As a kid, the catholic church's bloody history appalled me and was one of the things that led to my decision that it had no credibility.

But they are not alone. Other branches of christianity also have blood on their hands.

The treatment of the Amercan indians wasn't exactly friendly.

Northen Ireland wasn't just catholic killing protestants, it went both ways.

This bloody history continues with brutality against the muslim minority in the Philipines which would turn the stomach of any decent human being.

Some of the answers to a previous question of mine seemed to suggest that all christians except for catholic have a history of total peace.

Isn't this looking through rose coloured glasses?

Why do so many christians live in denial of history?

Let us look at Noble Verses 26:88-91 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, But only he (will prosper) that brings to God a sound heart; to the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, and to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view."

Allah Almighty created all mankind with different races, mentality and beliefs; "O mankind! [this includes all races and all nations] We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other. Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well-acquainted. (The Noble Quran, 49:13)"

The link is self explanatory. My question is, after so much evidence is laid before you, how can people still claim the bible is "only" about love? Before you try to claim I don't know what the bible says, I know it by heart as when I was a Christian up until the age of 18, we were taught this in sermons, sunday school, and vacation bible school. Even the priest couldn't answer simple questions like "Why were the babies heads dashed against rocks with the praise of God for what grown men who should have known better did?" He replied with "God is never unjust and the bible is the word of GOd". I simply looked at him and thought to myself "Boy, I sure am glad you're not allowed to have kids".

What is your opinion on this Gospel, which because of its views has come for heavy criticism? Though its writing is chronologically placed in times during the lifetime of Jesus, it disagrees with Christianity by saying, among other things that Jesus never claimed to be the son of God.
Kindly refrain from hatred; intelligent answers would be enlightening.
Cheers.

They opposed the small pox vaccine. They opposed Galileo's discoveries. They opposed evolution theory....these are all bad to oppose and the list goes on. Modern Christians I assume would agree that it was bad to oppose the above examples. Yet modern Christians are up to their same old tricks as their ancestors and are opposing stem cell research and genetic engineering. Who's to say that future generations of Christians won't look back at today's Christians and bow their heads in shame?

I find a lot of joy in reading some of the answers on yahoo..If laughter is "a medicine", than I am 1000% healthy..Some of the answers can be rude, but many of the answers can trully make you laugh out loud..Many times the answer can be so outrageously rude or funny, I will show it to others who are in my household..Many of you trully have an I don't care attitude..Also..to you who answer with humourous statements..Are you answering to humour people or are you only trying to hurmour yourself? love and peace

Cortez established a pretty poor precedent in the Americas.
The Jesuits were known to be somewhat intolerant.
It seems in most countries, the christian missionaries saw the indegenous peoples as savages to be forced into recieving Jesus into their hearts.
Is there anywhere this wasn't the case?

Back then it was very bad to get pregnant before marriage. We are talking criminal here. And Mary became pregnant before marriage.According to the New Testament, Mary was the mother of Jesus of Nazareth; at the time of his conception she was betrothed (or engaged) to Joseph and was a virgin. But isn't it at least possible that she in fact was not a virgin? Many people of faith ask those that are not of faith to at least consider the possibility that their religious views and/or faith is based on absolute truth. But can they also consider the possibility that the entire story of the virgin birth is based on lies told by Mary to protect herself from the mobs?Or perhaps even from Joesph?Perhaps she had not been faithful to him?

I would not go so far as to deny that Jesus was a very important person. But isn't it possible that the stories told were embellished to hide truths?

I mean Satan won't put these unrealisitic expectations on you. And Satan allows you to think for yourself. And Satan doesn't use a book filled with propoganda to convince us to worship him. Satan also doesn't walk around saying "Worship me, or I'll sentence you to heaven."
