Back then it was very bad to get pregnant before marriage. We are talking criminal here. And Mary became pregnant before marriage.According to the New Testament, Mary was the mother of Jesus of Nazareth; at the time of his conception she was betrothed (or engaged) to Joseph and was a virgin. But isn't it at least possible that she in fact was not a virgin? Many people of faith ask those that are not of faith to at least consider the possibility that their religious views and/or faith is based on absolute truth. But can they also consider the possibility that the entire story of the virgin birth is based on lies told by Mary to protect herself from the mobs?Or perhaps even from Joesph?Perhaps she had not been faithful to him?

I would not go so far as to deny that Jesus was a very important person. But isn't it possible that the stories told were embellished to hide truths?

The original Matthew 1:18-19 lost something in the translation.

"This was how the birth of Jesus Christ took place. His mother Mary was engaged to Joseph, but before they were married she found out that she was going to have a baby. Joseph was a man who always did what was right, but he did not want to disgrace Mary publicly, as she claimed she was on the pill; so he made plans to break the engagement privately."

NO! The word of God is not embellished. It's ok to have doubts though. Even the disciples had doubts. Remeber doubting Thomas? He would not beleive Jesus was raised from the dead til he saw the nail prints and put his finger in his side himself. Joh the Baptist had doubts too. He was said to have been the greatest man that ever lived by Jesus himself. We will all learn the truth when we leave this earth. I know in my heart the truth is the word of God. don't let someone tell you that you are going to hell because you have doubts. It's our nature to have doubts and questions. She was a Virgin. Here is the kicker-no one believed her back then either that no man had touched her. Joseph didn't buy it either til he saw the angel of the Lord. He was going to marry her and then divorce her right away so she wouldn't get stoned to death. Very good question!

Of course it is POSSIBLE. I don't believe it, but it is possible that it could have happened that way. If something is conceivable (no pun intended) and feasible, then it is possible.

When I was young, my siblings and I would ask my mother about any animal we encountered, "Can it bite me?" My mother's response was always the same. "If it has a mouth, it can bite." She didn't mean that it WOULD bite, but she was admitting to the possibility of it happening.

Likewise, I am not agreeing that Mary and/or Joseph lied, but I am admitting to the possibility that people in a similar situation (unmarried, yet pregnant) may well have lied/been lying. Will you admit to the opposite? That maybe, just maybe, they were telling the truth?

The story of the immaculate conception is what it looks, a story.
And it is possible that the original accounts of the story were injected with other pagan stories regarding the pagan messiah, which circulated since the beginning of human history, when the Bible was put together in the 4th century. Or maybe the original books were starting to be corrupted since they were first copied. This does not subtract from the faith though, because is faith in a saviour that saves, not faith in a book, even if the book is the Bible.

She replaced into no longer 12 years previous. You were informed incorrect. Why is it puzzling for persons to do not ignore that God impregnated Mary with Jesus' heavenly spirit without sex? after all he created the full heavens and the earth and mankind. Even docs as we talk can impregnate a lady without her having sex. No, Mary did not lie. She replaced right into a sturdy Jewish lady and would not lie because God forbids mendacity.

The Gospel accounts are not only truth but factual as well, they are to be either believed or rejected and there is no middle ground here, you cannot have some truth and the rest untrue, remember also that Christ is the Word of God which cannot lie,and even more than this Christ is the living Word Himself,so the written Gospels are not merely a collection of words as any other book is,this word is a living reality, and as such is not open for pick and mix,as I say you either believe it in it`s entirety or not at all.

The didn't believe Jesus was the son of God but they believed an Immaculate Conception? Somethings wrong there. I think its quite possible that it was a cover up for some not so immaculate premarital impregantion. Perhaps Herod and those guys weren't actually trying to track down Jesus but trying to find Mary and Jospeh to punish them for sex out of wedlock?

If I could draw, I would design a Christmas card showing Joseph with hands on hips and a scowl, standing over Mary, looking like butter wouldn't melt, saying 'A likely bloody story.....'

The whole virgin birth thing is a miss translation. Mary was not a virgin at Jesus's birth, and Mary and Joseph were allready married at the time.

There's quite a few optional probabilities - like last year they found signs that Jesus's walk on water may have been ice.
