The honest answer is that it's a fairy tale. It's meant to answer other questions about where humans came from.

Even if you want to believe in Jesus and god and christianity, for god's sake, not to mention for the sake of rational people everywhere, realize that the Genesis origin story has no more basis in reality than the Superman origin story.

Early humans evolved from early proto-humans who evolved from more primitive primates. It took millions of years and it was gradual. There were never just four humans - Adam, Eve, Cain, and Abel - and the dearth of sexual partners was never an issue. Although the proto-geek probably never got the pick of the litter.

In the beginning the gene pool was perfect. There were no other humans on the planet. There was no law for another 2000 years.
Adam and Eve both lived for over 900 years and had many "other" sons and daughters the Bible says. No one really "knows for sure". But it is "assumed" that the possibly hundreds of children of Adam and Eve married siblings.
Remember this was a different world, environment, and social order.

It actually says in the Bible, men do not have relations (as in sex) with your mother, your sister, and it basiclly goes through every female relation you could have other than obviously wife.

Then it goes through the same thing about women about not having relations with your father, your brother and the whole thing and since relations with the same sex are a big no then that rules out every relation for both genders.

If I understood your question (and I hope I did) then that should answer it. And the Bible doesn't say that Cane and Abel were the only children. And even if they were, then that was before God put the rules into place so, while God wouldn't have liked it, I suppose He hadn't told them at that time.

God did not make man in His image. God is nothing like His creations

There is nothing and no-one Equal to God.

When Adam and Eve had children, they married each other. For example, they had a boy and a girl. Both of them married each other, and produced offsprings. This continue on and on. Now that may seem wrong for us, but back then it was nothing. If you were alive at that time, you will see it as nothing. So please do not go all crazy about this and start saying how disgusting it is. It's life. If you and someone of the opposite sex were stuck on this world, and no other being existed, you would have to do the same thing, you have no choice but to. Or how else will you produce offsprings and increase the human population?

Genesis 5:4 states that Adam became father to sons AND DAUGHTERS. It was not necessary for the sons to have relations with their mother.
That was the only possible way then to procreate and fill the earth. It became incestuous when the law was written in Moses time. See also Leviticus 20:17.

Hope this helped to answer your question some.

Mona, at that time in the world Eve did not have to have sex with her sons to repopulate the earth. Remember Adam lived for other 900 years. That would have given him and Eve alone enough time to bear as many children possible to get the ball rolling. The sons of Adam and Eve took their sisters as their wife. The bible says that Cain took a wife and went to start a city, which means he had to take a sister. Also, during the time that Adam and Eve lived, the bible said that death and sin reigned, which meant at that time to take a sister for your wife would be the norm. However, when the Law of Moses came it abolished the act of taking a close relative as a spouse. As for your question about God making man in His own image. Yes, we are made in His own image and likeness. But God is a spirit. He does not have physical organs, genitals, bones, and so forth. When you die and leave here neither will you, but you will be spirit. We have the organs in our physical body because they reflect the nature of our spirit man. For instance, just like you have a physical mind, you have a spiritual mind. You have a physical heart, but you have a spiritual heart. Every thing about your physical body is a reflection of your spirit man. God gave us physical organs so we could understand how our spiritual man works.

To answer the first question, Cain killed Abel, so Abel didn't have any kids. Cain was banished and lived among other people somewhere else and married there. My understanding is that Adam and Eve were the first Jewish people, not the first people, since the Old Testament is basically the history of the Jewish people. But, I don't actually put much stock in the Bible anymore, I'm just going by what I understand by reading it as a piece of literature. As far as the second question goes, I have no idea, nor do I particularly care.

Adam and Eve had many sons and daughters, numerous generations in fact. They did not just have 2 sons. It is not considered incest, the blood lines were pure.Adam and Eve were told to go forth and multiply. Cain would have married a sister from different generation then his own

Cain married a sister. She was part of the family. It was not Eve. Adam and Eve had sons and daughters.

Genesis 5:4,5 And the days of Adam after his fathering Seth came to be eight hundred years. Meanwhile he became father to sons and daughters. So all the days of Adam that he lived amounted to nine hundred and thirty years and he died.
