I have a broke down raggedy car, why does God treat me the way he does?

I am a good person.

Maybe God wants me to die
Maybe I should die by committing suicide.

How can something that feels so good, be so wrong?

2007-04-05 07:16:45 · 25 answers · asked by James M 1

I used to be a Christian. I haven't been for 5 1/2 years.

I smoke marijuana as a sacrament (and as legal medication, so don't report me!)

I use sage and other herbs to cleanse my spirit and my home

I believe animals are equal in status with humans. I do not think that animals were put on Earth for our use and consumption.

I have studied and accepted evolution.

I have studied and accepted the Big Bang, and the continuing expansion of the universe

I believe everything is really connected.

I sometimes cast "spells", though not of any harm

I believe the "primitive" religions were way more right on than the modern ones.

I am a pacifist.

I think gay people were born that way.

I am happily married.

Although I admire Jesus' teachings, I do not think he was the only "son of God". I think many people have acheived this great union with the divine, and we are all capable of it. Jesus' teachings are universal with those who have had this experience.

---So, hell for me, or what??

When Adam and Eve were forced out of the Garden they were denied access to the Tree of Life. God created man a living soul and it is written: The soul that sinneth it shall die. Sounds like eternal death to me.

Since the above is true my question is: Where do you find in Scripture, or what is the Christian basis for your idea, that all people are going to live eternally?

That's what I look for in a politician. A person who is open and honest enough to admit what he/she does not know.

Is anyone else concerned about the souls of the fundamentalists?
Will they not answer for their deeds?

They claim to be the ultimate authority on scripture...when in reality, God is the only ultimate authority...so, they are calling themselves God.

They are arrogant and prideful.

They have turned so many good people away from the Christian faith with their hateful rhetoric.

Will God not hold them responsible for other's souls whom they have alienated and pushed out the doors of the church?

What will they say when they stand before God, and he says, why should I let you into my heaven?...Will they say, I was mean and hateful and pounded people over the head with the Bible...I told them to believe as I did...of course, I did this all in your name...to show them Christ's love.

Do religious persons have more respect for the planet and try to keep it clean and green because it's seen as God's creation? Or do atheists beat them at it because of a more social conscience?

Is it the same? What do you do and what is your faith orientation?

Are heterosexuals ruining the institution of marriage?
The divorce rate is over 50%...this has nothing to do with gay people...so, isn't the institution of marriage already ruined?

Should we enact laws to make it more difficult for people to receive a divorce?

Should we require, yes require, that people take classes before entering into the institution of marriage...

Is it right to be able to get married on a whim in Las Vegas or wherever?

Where is the Godliness in this?

This Pastor has guts!! To risk saying what needs to be said......

Thought you might enjoy this interesting prayer given in Kansas at the opening session of their Senate. It seems prayer still upsets some people. When Minister Joe Wright was asked to open the new session of the Kansas Senate, everyone was expecting the usual generalities, but this is what they heard:

"Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.

We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.

We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.

We have killed our unborn and called it choice.

We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.

We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem.

We have abused power and called it politics.

"For me it's all a wonderful story about how God sacrificed himself to himself to save us from himself. He himself, being dead, then raised himself from the dead less than 40 hours later. He pulled himself up into heaven where he himself apparently already was, and where he himself is described as now sitting at the right hand of himself"

Telling somebody to DISPROVE a Supreme Being is a bogus argument because honest people aren't trying to make such cosmic claims one way or the other. They just point to day-to-day reality. If you want to make outrageous, fantastic claims that run counter to that reality, then it's up to you to gather up the evidence. You are not the status quo, and getting fuzzy feelings listening to a choir doesn't cut it.

People ask me do I believe in God. Define God. How can you ask if I believe in something that you can't define?

My personal belief is simply that I believe in existence. If you believe life is worthwhile and that existence is not meaningless, then you believe in God. Otherwise, what's the point in it all? We might as well kill ourselves. But if there is purpose then life is worth living. I think we have to FIND that purpose through direct experience of living.
