Why spill it on the ground when you can spill it on someone elses stomach or lips?

Nope. Saying that is actually out of context. What happen was that God told someone to have a kid, but while having sex the guy purposely spilled seed outside. So basically what that means is that if you should have kids, why use a contraceptive?
Hell on the other hand is a debatable term. It is often translated from sheol or hades meaning grave. This is the first death and is called a sleep because although there is no conciousness, God can still resurrect the dead soul. Sometimes hell is from the word gehenna which is a junkyard symbolizing a second death where the soul dies (ceases existing).

If you mean hell as a place of conscious torment, you were never going there in the 1st place.
As far as Onan, he was s'posed to perform brother-in-law marriage so as to continue his brother's lineage. Knowing that the child would not be fully considered his, he pulled out and skeeted on the ground. This way he could enjoy sexual intercourse without the responsibility of fatherhood (sound familiar). Because Onan deliberately worked against God's will (which was for him to continue his brother's lineage), he was executed.
If, of course, you're just referring to compulsive masturbation (can I say that on here?), then you might wanna get a hobby. It's not specifically mentioned as a sin, but it's rather selfish of someone to try to enjoy the associated pleasures of sex without taking on the responsibility of marriage and family.

If you are focusing upon this or anything else to the point of confusion or obsession (becoming blind to significant things within or around you, or paralyzed in that you feel controlled by it) then many would say you already are in hell!
It is up to each one of us to discern if and what hell is and what can lead us to it.

Your seed is meant to fertilize the womb, not the ground. Your addiction really needs to be addressed because it is evidence of a character weakness that is going to spill over into other areas of your life, and then the real suffering begins.

In the Bible, the guy was doing it because he was selfish, mean, fearful, etc. If your wife is in an agony of unfillment, and you're doing this in front of her, yeah, hell ain't hot enough! If you're just wasting your own time (instead of pursuing something truly lasting and meaningful), well... I do feel sorry for you. It's only wrong because your life is worth more than that. You could be actively involved in life, instead of avoiding it.

I think you may be referring to Onan who was killed by god for spilling his seed on the ground. The context is that Onan did not want to impregnate his dead brother's wife (which is what god wanted him to do), so he practiced coitus interruptus. Thus god killed Onan for disobedience.
If I were Onan, I'm not sure I want to impregnate my sister-in-law. Yech.
