Yesterday evening I went out to run some errands, standing in the Walmart Parking lot, mom and I were talking about this book i've been reading "women art thou loosed" by TD Jakes, since I've been reading this book I have been enlighted in my faith, it wasn't as strong up until this point, my mother actually gave me the book to read even though she hadn't finished it or gotten further than I have. However yesterday I told I have faith and then she started up again asking me " Do you know who god is?" Yes he is the creator of all living things..etc...then she told me that faith and believeing are two different things, that she has a personal relationship with god and I haven't gotten there yet. That I don't know what faith is. Faith and believing in god has kept me alive from the streets, from the abuse, from this cruel world and shown me a different light. She is always questioning me if I know who he is and puts fear in me when she ask? Is it true is faith different from believing? V

The word Messiah which in Greek is the Christ, and in English is the Anointed, indicates one whose mind has been Enlightened. (i.e. Anointed and Chosen by God to guide Israel)

But what is Israel? It is not the person of the flesh - but rather, of the Spirit. The confrontation between Jesus and the Pharisees was a reenactment of the proverbial struggle between the spirit and the flesh (i.e. Able and Cain / Light and darkness) and these are the struggles that exist within each of us - and it is this struggle that each of us must overcome.

Jesus correctly stated that the Kingdom of God can never come upon the earth in the manner that carnal men predict, because it is within us - all of us - equally.

Thus, those who possess the eyes to see beneath the series of allegorical symbols presented in the scriptures, that portray inner realities of body, mind/soul and spirit, break down the inner barriers of the struggle of Flesh & Spirit - and dwell within the Presence of the Most High.

My first two years of Christianity I wanted to be used by God everywhere, and he did. Now I am going through a phase to take care of myself, and not be so focused on helping everyone, since I kinda died to myself, but then realized my business suffered. Is it cool to now focus on myself and my business before ministry?

Some theorize that Mary Magdalane and Jesus were married and had a child. Why couldn't this have been possible? Jesus was still human after all. He still bled and he still died. He wasn't a monk, he was more like a nomad going from place to place preaching the word of God. It was the chuch that turned Mary into a whore. It's the church that refuses to recognize the gospels that were found within the last 200 years, (i.e. Dead Sea Scrolls, Infancy Gospels, Gospel of Mary, Gospel of Judah.) Who's to say whether these scolls are legit or not? Who's to say whether the scrolls that are part of the bible aren't fake? Why exactly couldn't Jesus have been our lord and savior, as well as a husband and father?

Jesus was many things- Son of God/Son of man/ God-Man.
God( Elohim ) gave up his glory and became sin for those of us that are his.

I have been in Christ Jesus for 27 years. many times this problem has come to me, presented one way or another. I have to admit , I was closed minded to it and did not even consider the possibility.
We know that Christ was without sin and he felt pain sorrow etc. As Christ the man , he had to have felt all we feel.

The word of God tells us better to marry than to burn.

If Jesus had married Mary M. that would not have been a sin and to bare children , also not a sin.

My feelings about this , I am open. I am not disturbed either way. I am open to proof, not the opinions of man either way or the Church. The highest authority is the Bible .

We assumed that the apostle that Jesus loved was John as Jesus said at the cross to his mother , Woman behold your son.
Mary , mother of Jesus was to be mother to the young apostle.

What are your feelings?

Just curious. Theists seem to consider human beings the ultimate godlike wonder of the universe -- so what about theists who believe life exists elsewhere? Do they think humans like us exist on other planets (rather than another kind of intelligent lifeform)?

Do they allow that life elsewhere may be much more intelligent (and more "perfect") than Earthlings? Would they believe Jesus incarnated in other lifeforms, to "save" other worlds? Do any of them believe other life in the Cosmos may be older than Adam and Eve?

... In other words, how would theists who believe in extraterrestrial life envision intelligent life beyond planet Earth?

P.S. Yahoo ate my question during one of its hiccupping fits earlier today so I am reposting it.

When you are born into a religion there is a baptism of sorts and rituals of initiation. When life as we know it leaves our bodies there are more prayers and rituals before sending off.
Thats good, but I am more interested in that great period between birth and death. One is a Catholic, Hindu , Jew, Muslim , Buddhist Sikh etc not really by choice. . We are compelled to follow from a very young age . We are thrust with fear of a furnace of fire and damnation in a place called hell and joy of salvation in a place called heaven.
Between birth and death we can be poor and destitute, rich and famous , blind, lame, deaf, dumb, whole , black, yellow , brown ....
In societys vast mixi of human life forms all trying to reach God through his prophets, man yet waged bloody war on each other through these centuries. It seems we are getting worse by the day and are about to destroy the planet .

If we did not have religion and mankind brought up seeking inner peace through meditation....?

instead of that book? What are you trying to prove? We all know these so called"answers" you post, they're completely unoriginal. If your faith was true, you'd be able to answer like a real person instead of an AI robot programmed with verses--why don't you just admit that you don't understand what you claim to believe in? that when you try to answer from your heart there's nothing there? That you're lost too--New times roman in black on white is a cold dead slip of paper in your hand, providing no real comfort--they're only words, words you can't even make your own--why should we imagine you believe?

I don't know very much about science, but I've seen how destructive fire can be. In cremations a whole body is gone in just a few moments.

So, my guess is it won't be my body burning in hell. But what then? My so called 'soul' ? Can a 'soul' burn? And if it can, can that really burn for eternity? Is that scientificly tested at any point ?

I saw in the Bible something about gnashing teeth. Could it be that the fire will just reduce me to teeth? Cause that actually sounds like kinda fun.

I really think there is a God who I pray to and have God in my heart. However, I don't believe in the whole going to church thing etc and not eating meat for lent, bla bla.

Should it matter if I don't do what a catholic does, but still truly believe in God?

Please, be gentle, i'm actually looking for an answer, not to just get people angry.

Look at it this way- if God has planned the moment of every birth and death, aren't the mother who has the abortion or the murderer just going along with god's plan?

I'm looking at psalm 139, verse 16. It says " You saw me before I was born and scheduled each day before I began to breathe. Each day was recorded in your book."

Now, if each day is recorded before you were born, wasn't it in the book already that you were going to be aborted or murdered? Isn't the mother or the murderer just doing what God had planned for them to do, because the person who died was already scheduled to have been killed on that day?

When I was little I thought heaven was all fluffy clouds and winged angels playing harps. Kind of boring actually.

Now that I've grown up a little, I've come to view Heaven as something closer to home. Being in heaven to me is getting to be with my husband, family, and friends forever.

Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart and the hearts of his officials so that I may perform these miraculous signs of mine among them that you may tell your children and grandchildren how I dealt harshly with the Egyptians and how I performed my signs among them, and that you may know that I am the LORD."
