BTW, yes I have read the bible in it's entirety, and have studied christian doctrine for years, sorry I don't have that "leave it up to faith" switch, unfortunately this girl needs a little more than bedtime stories to "believe" something

I'm sure people resent the belligerent and agressive way you come at them for being ignorant before you've even asked your question.
Do you want to have a discussion or not? Perhaps you should be prepared to listen as well.

I think it's funny how people take bible verses out of context and used to them to pretend to be intellegent. If you read further on Matthew 15:28 Jesus healed the gentile woman's daughter. Jesus NEVER called anyone a dog or a woman, it's called a simile (look it up). I don't pretend to know everything but, I know the Bible. I've read the WHOLE thing several times not just passages that I think will prove a point to someone. Maybe you should be more concern with YOUR relationship with Jesus and a little less concerned with anyone else.

Did Jesus call the gentiles dogs? I had no idea he was willing to pay us such a kind complement. Surely there is no more wonderful and loving creature on this planet than a dog. If I were a god-believer (a deist), the existence of the dog would probably be the only evidence I would need (but selection has already explained the dog).

In Dog I trust.

And your question is?

You don't really think He thought of her as a dog do you?
They are metaphors.

Even though she was not a Jew she showed faith, He being God responded to the faith.
That is why the whole thing is based on faith.
God responds to faith.
Doesn't matter what church or denomination or non denomination or just a poor person in dire need that reaches out with the smallest of Faith, He will respond to it.

The lesson was to show that He will respond to faith.

Regarding Matthew 15:24-26, consider:

Jesus spent most of his earthly life with Jewish people. But one day he was approached by a Phoenician woman --a Gentile-- who begged him to cure her daughter. In response he said:

“I was not sent forth to any but to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”

Yet, the woman pleaded with him: “Lord, help me!”

At that, he added: “It is not right to take the bread of the children and throw it to little dogs.”

To the Jews, dogs were unclean animals. So by alluding to Gentiles as “little dogs,” was Jesus showing prejudice? No, for he had just mentioned his special commission from God to care for ‘the lost sheep of Israel.’ Moreover, by likening non-Jews to “>little< dogs,” not wild dogs, Jesus softened the comparison. Of course, what he said did test the woman.

Humbly, yet determined to overcome this objection, she tactfully replied: “Yes, Lord; but really the little dogs do eat of the crumbs falling from the table of their masters.”

Impressed with the faith of this >Phoenician< woman, Jesus healed her daughter IMMEDIATELY. --Matthew 15:22-28.

If Jesus had been hateful toward the woman, he Never would have used the term "little", Nor would he have healed her child. That he did shows that he had great Empathy, as he was then concentrating his efforts on those in the covenant relationship with his Father, Jehovah God. He spoke those words with Kindness, not malice. Please don't assign feelings to either God or His Son that are out of line with their True character.

I am worse than a dog. That woman had a great reply, did you note that?

This wasn't a hard question. I didn't see it. I'm finding that the board is moving rapidly. I can't keep up with all the questions!

Oh well, I got to it now. Thanks for repeating it.

If you have any more questions that you want answered by a Christian, let me know.

Someone hurt you in your life.

Why do you spend all of this time trying to disproove something that you dont believe in.

It probably hurts you that you are not happy and when you see a REAL Christian they are.

(Most people that claim to be a Christian don't know what it means to be a Christian.)

Who hurt you?

Did your parents divorce?

Dad not spend enough time with you?

Boyfriend?

Abuse of some kind?

I have yet to find a single person male or female who devotes this much energy to something like this that wasn't hurt bad sometime in their life and blames God because deep down they KNOW that Jesus Christ is real and they blame Him and want revenge.

Dont let that bitterness send you to Hell forever.

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.

You go to Heaven by stop believing in yourself and believe in what Jesus did for you.

Ask Him to save you today.

Gosh, I was about to ask the EXACT same question! (Here is the question I asked that not many seem to care to touch:: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ap3NxQSfefqP21zP2GPsqZbsy6IX?qid=20070405104628AA9Z7x1

To me, it's funny when I ask an intelligent question for Atheists, in this R&S forum, and get a plethora of answers, but when I ask the Christians, all I hear are birds and crickets chirping, for the most part. That says a great deal to me.

I understand that many Christians feel they are secure enough in their faith to feel they shouldn't have to asnwer questions, but it's sad when the only questions that ARE being answered are simple ones.

I never shy away. And I'll match my intellect with anyone that is seeking the truth and enjoys heathy debate.Do you take the time to read beyond a single word or passage and critically analyze it prior to asking a question? Most of the questions here are so easy to refute it boggles my mind at the audacity of the asker thinking he or she is intelligent. This is one of those. Some of us choose the tougher questions[few in number]to spend our time on.Read further, and if you still are stumped...ask again, and I'll answer it for you.Fair enough?
