We're all people and we all make mistakes. We should treat each other with respect. It doesn't matter what we believe in because we're still humans and we should try and love each other. Remember, we are all brothers and sisters in some way.

Inspired by yet another answer, one suggestion is to interpret the Bible in context - chapter, timeframe, geographic location, etc., to truly understand it. With that in mind, can we interpret the Bible so that it has "context" in today's world? We can certainly interpret Plato, Socrates, Locke, etc. to have context in today's world, but this requires slight adaptation to consider today's society and technology. Can this be done with the Bible, as it is the inerrant word of God? Can we tweak it to make sense today?

Certainly there are concepts in the Bible that easily transfer, like Jesus' messages of love and compassion. What about the ideas that are not so inclusive?

Would applying the Bible to today be taking it "out of context"?

"There is no such thing as an atheist... by definition an atheist cannot reasonably exist. No one possesses all knowledge in the universe.... therefore one cannot declare, " there is no GOD". Furthermore, only a puny brain would make such a ludicrous declaration in the face of such overwhelming evidence as is witnessed in all of creation... have a nice day. "

And the condescension, as well...

Psalm 24
1The earth is the LORD's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

2For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.

3Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place?

4He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.

5He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

6This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah.

7Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

8Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.

9Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

10Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.

WAR SHOUT!

Yeah, one land mass is commonly accepted BUT you fail in ability to think, which is not surprising, so I will use a crayon:

Certain animal are only indigenous to specific geographical areas on the planet. I suppose you have Kangaroo bones/fossils in your back yard cause they use to hop all over until unfortunate day the land masses split, you make it sound like a Macy's day parade float for Christ's sake!

All i want to say is that, most of the people here before going on bashing other peoples religion, it is advisable that you gather some knowledge first instead of just ranting on and on about stuff you dont know. most of youre info are from unreliable and bias sources.

theres no point in trying to belittle or condem peoples religion just because you dont believe in it. be it Islam, Christianity, Buddhism etc.....

instead of condeming why not try and understand?

its sad really seeing how the most hate comes from the R&S section instead of other sections.

With so many different denominations out there with so many different interpretations of the Bible and traditions and ways of following Christ, I'm confused. Some people say that, as long as they follow Jesus, it's okay. But then I see so many people talking about how Catholicism or LDS or JW (for example) is wrong, though these groups follow Jesus. How do I determine which Christian denominations are "really" Christian and which one is the closest to following the TRUE interpretation of the Bible?

Read an article that featured the origins of man by usage of DNA. How does Biblical fantasy stand up to the inexorable onslaught of scientific data that makes a mockery and sham of Genisis.

I mean its in your face kind of information, it is not obscure or hard to find.

At five years old I found it to be stretching the limits of credibility to believe that a Kangaroo treked thousands of miles across Australia, swim another thousand miles across the Indian Ocean, scamper another 1,000 + miles across Africa to get to an Ark? If he could do all that, he didn't need the Ark. Ergo, the Flood was an account not by God but by man, exposed as such in that man did not know there were other continents, so the story is made up in accord to man's knowledge at that time.
