Many Founders were Freemasons, so obviously their beliefs played a part in the foundation of this country, but I would not go so far as to say that America was based on Freemasonry.

Although there are plenty of Freemason symbols scattered across Washington, D.C. and throughout our government (even on our money), I don't think that the ideals of the United States of America were based on Freemasonry. It definitely influenced the early growth of our nation since many of our founding fathers were indeed Masons, but I don't think our country's foundation was built soley on the Masons.

Freemasonry, Deism, Christianity, but mostly Deism. And to Shawn above. Rome, Persia, Babylon were all the most powerful empires in the World in their time and all were pagan. Does that mean God backed them up? Think before you type. A brain is a terrible thing to wrap in Saran Wrap and stick in the freezer.

Welll some of the founding fathers were and some were not.
I will give you a link to who was and who wasn't a Mason. I read that 98% were freemason but I didn't take the time to count it up myself :)

Definatly not.

Americas formor founders were just men. Wether they were religious or not they followed a certain code and were good. God led them through there good acts to the founding of this great nation. through there faith in good they have been recieved into a good place.

If god does not back this nation then why is it the greatest and almost the only truly free country?

Not necessarily but I do know that many of the Revolutionaries were freemasons and that is how much of the intelligence was safely passed from colony to colony.

It played a role, but America was a plurality from the start.

It seems that most (or even all) of the founders were Masons. It certainly had an influence.
