Wouldn't you rather die and be in heaven instead of wasting your time here on Earth?

I'm not asking this to be mean or put anyone down. I'd really like to know what people think about this.

From reading the Bible as much as I have, heaven sounds like a wonderful place. If I had such strong beliefs, I would want to skip this Earth garbage and go straight to the good stuff.

Thoughts?

I am a baby Christian. I attended a Sunday service 2 weeks ago. I started to sing the first line of How Great Thou Art when my body suddenly shook and tears were flowing down from my eyes. Why did this happened?

Isnt camoflage (the ability of animals to hide using their various characteristics and outter surface) alone, proof enough for u to believe that God exsists. If u say its a coincidencethen that u yourself very well know that its bull. Coz anyone with the least bit of common sense would deny that it cant be coincidence. And if you believe that the creaters just created stuff for thei survival...then grow one hair on your body using your will. What do u say to this.

My parents became Jahovahs Wittnesses when I was 5 years old. I had no xmas, no BD partys, no halloween etc. I was so ashamed of my parents and of myself because of this belief that I went into reclusion. I feel like I lost the most important part of life- my childhood! Have you or know anyone who's life has been affected negatively by this religion?

I understand what pagans, Buddhists, Hindus, get from their religions. Some of what they glean is the same, and some of it different for each religion. I have never really understood what Christians get from their belief in Christ or, in fact, any of the Abrahamic religions. The Abrahamc religions are based on the threat of punishment, I don't understand what positivity they could get from it. I do understand that many folks are indoctrinated early and never have any hope of actually choosing their religion, I'm talking about those that are educated and have experience that would allow them to see the world differently. How does it improve heir lives and bring something positive into it?

And a friend of mine cannot understand why I don't think 2 animals of each species can be brought onto an ark or how I don't believe that Jesus turned water to wine. I believe in God and Jesus, I just think that the stories in the Bible shouldn't be taken literally. I am a biologist/cancer researcher by occupation and am going to dental school and with this scientific background, I can't accept physical impossibilities. He says that this makes me un-Christian. How should I handle these conversations so he understands my POV better?

My girlfriend and I are breaking up. We are still very good friends and there is no animosity between us. I was looking thru Corinthians and I am having trouble finding a verse that goes well with our situation. I just want a verse or two to show her.

I.E. Jehovah Witnesses. I mean, how could our sins be taken away by someone that ISN'T God? Also, would it really show God's love if He just appointed a special somebody to die for all the rest of mankind? Even if the sect believes that He is just the son of God and not also God himself, the love factor doesn't come through in this theology. Say, as a parent you had two children and one of them was going to die but could be saved by you or your other child dying in his/her place, what would be your decision----and what action would speak most effectively of love?
God came to earth in human form to die for His creation. This speaks volumes and more to me about true LOVE.

because the bible in Job 1:6 said:
Now it came to be the day when the sons of the [true] God entered to take their station before Jehovah, and even Satan proceeded to enter right among them.

and Job 2:1
Afterward it came to be the day when the sons of the [true] God entered to take their station before Jehovah, and Satan also proceeded to enter right among them to take his station before Jehovah.

Which is a place totally seperate of GOD? and do you think people have any clue what it is to live in eternity seperated from the Loving God who created us?

Lastly do you think the majority of people in the world would rather live in a place where GOD is loved and worshipped? or do you think the majority of folks just don't care one way or the other?

I just have one simple rule.

That at no time in the history of that religion was ritual human sacrifice ever practiced.

I don't care how long ago it was or even if they eventually decided it wasn't a good idea.

If the religion is based on a previous religion, both religions must meet this criteria.

Denominations or Sects will be judged on the core religion, not the particular history of just that Sect.

Can you suggest a religion that meets this criteria?

Most of them saying that thay like Jesus and their moral behavior is improved (or not changed) after they left Jesus Christ.

How do you define your morality if there is no authenticity for morals?
If you like Jesus then Why do you left Him?
Don't you think Jesus claimed exclusivity? such as He alone is right and others (krishna, Budhha) were wrong?

Jason David BeDuhn, Ph.D. is an historian of religion and culture, currently Associate Professor of Religious Studies at Northern Arizona University. He first gained brief national attention at the age of 18 when remarks he made in a speech to the high school graduating class of Rock Island, Illinois, sharply critical of oppressive attitudes towards youth by older generations of Americans, were widely reported in the American press. He defended his remarks in subsequent radio and television appearances by pointing to the historical contribution of youth to social idealism and cultural innovation. Pursuing the historical study of religion, he received his doctorate from Indiana University in 1995. He won the Best First Book Award from the American Academy of Religion in 2001 for his book The Manichaean Body in Discipline and Ritual (ISBN 0-8018-6270-1), notable for its analysis of religions as goal-oriented systems of practice rationalized within particular models of reality.
