I can only speak as a Christian that many Christians have not been properly taught how to evangelize. They think with threats of hell ie.-shoving it down someone's throat that they are going to get them to change their mind. It repels people.
I think you should live by example and SHOW the love of God. No one wants to accept something out of fear.

More subtle ways of shoving religion down people's throats? Like serving it up with a dollop of honey?
You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. Kicking him in the ribs won't help. Best to realize that either the horse isn't thirsty - or there's something wrong with the water.

Well lets look at one thing how the christer cultist are trying to shove their religion down others throats.
Lets look at how they are trying to get school led prayer into our public schools. Now they will whine how it doesn't hurt anybody. that is true, but it is not fair to those who are not of their religion or to those that have no religion. It is also not fair to the teachers who only have so much time in a day to teach. They should not have to waste time on something that accomplishes nothing, as in praying. Forcing people to waste time on that none sense is shoving it down people's throats.

You hit the nail on the head! The way the current Christian zealots go about it - people run when they see them coming!
Why would anyone on this site listen to the word when the Christians that post here are so scathing about people who do not follow their beliefs?
It is almost as if they deliberately want to put people of Christianity.
If only these Christians zealots would just back of and let true Christians get a chance. Sadly their egos will not allow it!!!

It amazes me how many times people get on this post and ask these questions. They are obsessed with someone cramming religion down their throats. They don't believe in God and don't want to hear about Him but want to talk about Him daily/weekly/....I will agree their are religious fanatics that have lost the true message of the Gospel. But there are those of us that are saved that only want to share our God with someone that wants to listen. If you have closed ears and a closed heart then I don't want to waste valuable time talking about salvation through Jesus Christ with you when there are those out there that have never heard and are more than willing to listen.
My prayer is that everyone will be at least given the chance to know HIM. It really is about choices.

I see far, far more atheist here on this site. They aren't subtle in the least bit. As an atheist you can turn the channel and not come here if you don't want to hear it! No one is shoving anything down your throat!

Christianity is so offensive to most that even expressing to someone else that you are a born again christian is enough to make them think you have be "shoving it down their throats." You won't be complaining about the assertiveness of born again believers in eternity, you will be despising yourself for not listening.

Because their pastors and priests them that it is their duty to spread the word. They're just as bad if not worse than door to door salesmen.

Apologies...
Some can be forceful but when people chat especially on-line and not face to face it may seem forceful.
I don't try to talk about it unless people ask...

Everyone gets excited. People have strong beliefs they want to share. Smile and tell them you are not interested if you listen to a few concepts, and decide it isn't what you believe, then just tell them to please not try and convert you!
