Jesus was a 'relatively' good guy and the Good Shepherd print is still hanging on my wall and I don't expect that I'll ever take it down; his teachings of love are as fine as any I know and I still basically live by them, I just don't believe in the kind of God that he speaks of or that you worship. I've read the teachings of many people but don't follow anyone to the letter because some of it doesn't make sense to me personally. I don't give up authority over my own conscience very easily and I don't consider anyone to be the divine son of God. I'm not worried about perfection and believe that the only forgiveness that any of us really need is each other's. I don't believe in an anthropomorphized superhero God with a long white beard who watches and judges our every move and throws his failures into hell. The universe just doesn't work that way. I'm going Buddhist and Tao, they offer me peace without the fear of damnation.

His misinterpretation by religious leaders throughout history.

I don't understand who "most of them" is. But, yes I care more about human beings now. I am less selfish. I want to be more giving. I am not afraid of the unknown.

Humanistic morality. People are important now. Civil rights are important. Protecting freedoms and liberties are important now. 10 commandments are still good rules. Look up define:Natural Law in google. Good and bad are relative to each person. Look up define:yin yang.

How can I like a man I didn't know? All I know about him is that a bunch of people wrote about him and they put the story of his death 4 times into a book and called it gospel. He had some neat stories and parables to tell. I think man misinterpreted everything Jesus was trying to tell us. Where was Jesus before his 30's? I think he went to India or Alexandria to do research. BUT no one knows, really.

No, Jesus was a man. Exclusivity... I don't understand that. Jesus didn't intend that, I don't think. He didn't compare himself to other deities. He didn't call himself a deity either.

Everyone is unique.

Most of us agree that Jesus wasn't "divine". Much of his life was intentionally left out of the Bible. As far as morality is concerned, I'm no longer worried about such things as working on the Sabbath (only because I have to). If I went to church instead, I'd be leaving a lot of people to do all the work themselves, and that just wouldn't be fair. I can concentrate on the things that truly matter.

There is a higher morality than that taught in the Bible and it is completely objective and is self-evident. Murder is not wrong just because "God" said so.

Many gain a higher sense of morality after they learn that things are wrong because there are definite reasons for them being wrong. Just as there is a difference between knowing that the square root of 4 is 2 and knowing why the square root of 4 is 2 and applying the understanding to other scenarios.

I never claimed that I like Jesus.

Jesus did claim exclusivity even though he stole his teachings from Krishna and the Buddha.

Jesus was not unique.

I never said I *liked* Jesus. Honestly, just feel indifference towards him, neither love him nor hate him. I don't believe he existed as a historical person. He is mythological (nothing wrong with that), he's based on previous Middle Eastern deities such as Mithra, he is not unique. My ancestors were not Middle Eastern they were Norse, therefore I have more of a connection to the Norse Gods than the Middle Eastern ones.

Now, the Christian god, i.e. the one in the OT, the one that likes the smell of burning flesh, I certainly do not like. I see him as malevolent. I reject him on moral grounds. One should envision one's Gods as being at least as good as the best human beings. The best of us would not damn people for eternity for an honest difference of opinion. The best of us would not set up eternal torment at all.

My complaint about Christ is that I don't believe He cares about me or the world; I personally find much proof to back this up.

My morals are not defined by a religion, they are formed by my upbringing and surroundings.

Jesus claims as much exclusivity as Allah & every other God out there.

Jesus was a fictional character. See the link here if you deny his fictionality. http://www.ebonmusings.org/atheism/camel.html

Other than that, his "morality" is pretty schizophrenic. One major example: Love your neighbor but you'll burn in a lake of fire if you don't accept me/god.

Morality does not hinge on a belief in god or jesus. In fact, atheists would tell you that if you need the motivation of hell or god to make you a moral person, then YOU are LESS moral than we are.

Atheists define morality as doing what is good, kind and just.

I have no beef with Jesus, I just don't like the way his religion is run- I don't agree with it. It the religion were simply based on his teachings of pacifism, love, and empathy, I would be a Christian.

I don't think Jesus claimed exclusivity. I think when he said that no one gets to the father except through him, it meant that we need to be the kind of person he was. I don't believe he is the only one who can be a son of God either. I think we are all capable.

I have no complaint with Jesus. I have no complaints with christians. I left because I dont believe that Jesus is God. Its just that simple. As far as my morals go, I have very good morals. I base them on my relationship with society. Ironically, I guess you could say I use "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". This is an excellent way to live your life.
