My brain would have to be physically and literally changed in order for me to believe.

saintrose: experiences don't defy logic. They are logically generated by the brain.

Do what you want to do then. It's your life. As for me and my house we will serve the Lord and please don't let what I think about what is good for my own life offend you okay? Enjoy your day.

I guess everyone responding did not get the obvious implication that with an omnipotent, omniscient God there can be no free will. If God is all powerful and all knowing he knows exactly ahead of time whose intellect will prevent them from believing in the supernatural. And if He then sends people to Hell for that, what kind of game is He playing? This is an obvious theological paradox, which great theologians have usually escaped answering with the phrase "God works in ways mysterious to man" but which is obviously unknown to the many above responders.

Atheists: Do you understand that belief or not belief in God is a choice and that you are held accountable for your decision?

In the body of knowledge that exists in the universe none of us either individually or collectively contain it all. Therefore, in any body of knowledge that you (we) do not possess the existence of God is possible. Based on what you know, have observed and thought you have decided to take a step of faith (religion anyone?) and choose to believe that there is not God. This is nothing new or original about this step. It is as old as the Psalmist who said, "The fool says in his heart, "No God".

The believer goes through the same process and comes to a different conclusion - i.e. to believe. It is a step of faith but is one that is chosen.

Your brain functions no differently than anyone eles's brain. You are choosing to take a step of faith that there is no God. But realize also that there are consequences for whatever you choose. If you choose to live a life seperate from God you will die in your sins and be seperated from God for eternity. But this shouldn't upset you for two reasons. First, you have chosen to deny the existence of God and, if you're right, you will just rot in the ground without conciousness and 2nd, if I'm correct, you will have your choice honored by God; that is eternal seperation from Him.

Either way you lose... sorry about that.

Two part Answer to the above question; It is not your brain that will not allow you to believe in God.
2. The 'lack of logic' by some babes in Christ may be one of the things turning you off of God. Example of 'lack of logic'; defining the old testament as Genesis-Malachi. Yes, that 'definition' does exist; the Christians should be refuting it presently (in USA); but on a large scale, they are not.
The 'logical' (scriptural old testament) is the law of Moses.

It's not your brain that's challenged to believe; it's your heart and soul. Jesus performed many miracles that in the natural mind would be absurd, but the work was done through FAITH, not by sight.

I think that could happen and the reason is that you aren't predisposed or conditioned in any way to believe that god exist. The way i see it is that none of us are truly free and we don't have free will, we act upon our genes from birth then conditioning and your environment from then on. Like when you chose between a chocolate chip cookie and a sugar cookie, think hard about the reasons that you "chose" one or the other and think about where that comes from.

I believe that its not your brain, its your stubbornness, your trying to be hard.. But knowing deep down that there is something more e to life.. but you try to deny it, and turn it into a joke, because you dont want to believe it! Thats why you made this question as a mockery, your denying it!

that's because it is the brain and only the brain that generates belief or lack of belief in god.
