The part that reads, "No one possesses all knowledge in the universe.... therefore one cannot declare, " there is no GOD"." sounds like a direct steal from something I said sometime back; however the condescending add-on and the "no such thing as an atheist" are not mine. One might modify the "no such thing" argument to read "an atheist possesses a belief system," but as for actual "existence," certainly atheists exist. I see so many of them here every day. The best we can do is "preponderance of evidence" as applied to a given assertion. While it isn't possible to prove or disprove absolutely the existence of a God or gods, one can collect enough evidence to rest comfortably in the assumption that such probably does or does not exist. It depends on what you accept as evidence and what assumptions you begin with. The "puny brain" part was totally uncalled-for, however.

Well, I agree with the words "No one possesses all knowledge...therefore one cannot declare, "there is no GOD"." That is true. A person can be convinced that there is no God, can believe there is no God, but can not know with 100% certainty that there is no God.
The rest of it is bunk though. There IS a such thing as an atheist, they choose not to believe or are convinced there is no God. Many may say they know 100% there is no God, but that's no different than a Christian saying they know 100% that God is real.
The condescening attitude is very thick though...I must say, while I don't like the content...the word choice of "only a puny brain...have a nice day" is a nice touch.

"There is no such thing as a theist... by definition a theist cannot reasonably exist. No one possesses all knowledge in the universe.... therefore one cannot declare, " there is a GOD". Furthermore, only a puny brain would make such a ludicrous declaration in the face of such overwhelming evidence as is witnessed in all of nature... have a nice day. "

Hello Bettiera...Ok.. here it goes...In my opinion there are atheist's, now why do I claim this is because that the word "atheist" means someone that does not believe in the existence of a deity or the belief in one God. You are saying what I understand, is that if one can't scientifically explain that there is a God then one can't claim to be an atheist because there is no scientific proof that there is...right? I see your point but we have been raised to believe that there is a God. Doesn't matter what religion you may be whether you are a Catholic, Christian, Baptist, Muslim, Jewish etc...This has been the practice ever since Christianity started. Look at the Greeks and their beliefs on the Gods of Mt.Olympis. The Romans, the Egyptians. So as I look at this issue if all these different races of people had their Gods and believed in their Gods, then one can say if you didn't believe, that you are an atheist. One who does not believe in one certain God or deity. Now many atheists will point out that in philosophy and science, the default position on any matter is a lack of belief. If reliable evidence or sound arguments are not presented in support of a certain belief, then "the burden of proof" remains upon the believers, not non believers, to justify their view. Also, many atheists assert that they are not theists simply because they remain unconvinced by theistic arguments and evidence. Now one of the most common argument is "the problem of evil", which Christian apologist William Craig has called "atheism's killer argument". The argument is that the presence of evil in the world disproves the existence of any god that is simultaneously benevolent omnipotent, because any benevolent god would want to eliminate evil, and any omnipotent god would be able to do so. Theists commonly respond by invoking "free will" to justify "evil", however this leaves unresolved the related "argument from nonbelief" also known as the argument from divine hiddenness, which states that if an omnipotent God did exist and wanted to be believed in by all, then it would prove of it's existence to all because it would be able to do so.Since there are unbelievers, either there is no omnipotent God or God does not want to be believed in. So..if you think about this then there are atheists in this definition. Not everyone believes that there is a God. They need scientific evidence or a "burden of proof" to justify the claim. So by their beliefs that there is no proof to justify that there is a God then they are a non believer which classifies them as an Atheist. Hope this has answered your question of logic. Have a Blessed day!

Back in my agnostic days I thought that even though I didn’t believe in God, I couldn’t say with absolute certainly that I understood everything in the universe. Argued about that with atheists on several occasions. How could they be so certain? Seemed pretty arrogant to me. Still does.
So yes, atheists certainly do exist. They are certain there is no God. I suppose the only way they can have this certainty is to believe that people like me who enjoy a very real relationship with God’s Spirit are nuts.
So I’m nuts and they’re arrogant. Perhaps that is the only way we can understand each other.

I am going to go off on a tangent here. I find it fascinating, and frustrating, to try to figure out how other people think. Many people are sure that a God exists because that is the only way they have ever thought. The concept that God does not exist cannot fit in their brain. They also cannot grasp that people can think any differently. Therefore they make statements like "Atheists do not exist" and then try to prove it.

Failure to consider all options is never logical.
Furthermore, it demonstrates a lack of understanding regarding what an atheist is. It does not necessarily involve the statement that there is no god(s). It is merely the failure to believe in one. One can accept the overwhelming lack of OBJECTIVE evidence for god(s) and conclude that one cannot believe in one without evidence. This is different from agnosticism in that agnostics have not yet determined that the evidence fails to support god(s).
Atheists can accept that they may be wrong. It just isn't likely based on the evidence.

I just don't believe in the christian god, therefore, to a christian I am atheist.
Do christians know all there is to know in the universe? So far, the world has a one sided, all male interpretation of God.
The church is only raised up on one side, the mans. What about the other half of the Godhead? When will She be raised to the position She had before, and Her rights restored? Ya - I know, women are treated worse than dogs by religious men, and in the past it was horrendous. Men are blind to their own iniquity eh? They refuse to turn and "see".
Do christians know who or what they worship?
I don't mind being talked down to by christians, its what I expect, seeing they think they know it all.

roflmao, well by that logic, one could simply insert the word "theist" and twist it around to the same conclusion.
Bottom line, neither side can prove the other wrong.
I don't know why people can't just live and let live. If you believe in a god or gods, terrific. If you don't, just as terrific. If it brings you peace and you are good with it, then that's the right path for you.
lol have a nice day!

Evilbible.org gives a very good explanation that does disprove of the OT character YHWH.
So, you can say 'there is no God' meaning the Biblical one. Furthermore, I don't think this person understands the literal meaning of the word 'atheist'. How puny of his/her brain.
