My religion is Spiritism.
My husband's Christian.

we make ourselves easy targets when we blindly follow traditions we know nothing about. so what do you want to do? do you want to be a fish in a barrel that looks so foolish blindly following something you know nothing about? or would you rather be the one with the gun, and know exactly what you are talking about when you open your mouth.

Who makes more sense ? Here's Brainman Daniel Tammet speaking.

Professor Richard Dawkins is currently giving media interviews for his latest book 'The God Delusion'. In a recent one with the BBC's 'Newsnight' programme, Professor Dawkins made several erroneous comments. He spoke about a religious person's belief in a universe containing a god, whereas Christianity (the religion the professor singles out for criticism) explicitly argues for a God *outside* of the time and space He created. It is like asking where the poet is in his/her poem or to expect an artist to be in his/her own picture. All creation is an act of separation.

Secondly, the professor said that religious people did not give their beliefs much thought. This implies that religion and thoughtfulness cannot go together, something I disagree a great deal with. I came to Christianity only after a very large amount of thought and reasoning. So did and do many other religious people.

The interviewer Jeremy Paxman likewise made a distinction between a 'religious culture' and a 'rational culture' but this is only a false distinction. Religion can be rational - some of the greatest thinkers and scientists throughout history were deeply religious (Sir Isaac Newton for one). It is true that religion asks ultimately for a 'leap of faith', but no leap is possible without first some firm foundation from which to jump.

Again Professor Dawkins erred when he stated that Christianity was an invention of Saint Paul's. Paul taught at a time when many still lived who had been eyewitnesses to Jesus and his original teaching. The early Christian community would not have tolerated the misrepresentation of ideas and beliefs that many among them had themselves been witnesses to.

In the course of the interview Professor Dawkins refers to people with religious beliefs as 'faithheads'. The professor knows better than this. Name-calling is no substitute at all for rational and sincere debate.

When I was prenant with my son, someone gave me a christing hat along with a poem. I can't find the poem, it was a beautiful poem. The only parts I remember are for the baby to wear it on it's Babtism and then with a couple of snips of the thread it is a hankerchief to be used on the childs wedding day. Someone very close to me is having a baby and I would love to give this as a gift. Does anyone know this poem?

In the story of Job, God made a deal with Satan that if God gave Satan permission to kill and destroy everything around him that Job will still worship God and wouldn't curse his name.

Well my question is why would God give Satan permission, or even give into Satan. Why would God need to prove his point to Satan in the first place, God is all knowing right. He 'ALLOWED" Satan to take everything including his family and to make Job sick just to prove his point when God already knew what the outcome would be. This is sick, and it is another story in the old book that wasn't well thought of before it was made up. Satan pretty much tricked God to give into betting on Jobs faith and for what, to prove a point. I do not understand why God the creator of all things should have to explain himself to Satan in the first place.

I never got an A for my History paper, just D or E.

I am changing my life to be more religious. Do you think it is wrong to expect a potentially boyfriend to be going down the same path that I choose for my spirituality or does that seem selfish? I mean in order to be on the same level we have to be going in the same direction right??

everytime something comes up in the old testament that shows what god's true colors are. People say, "it's the old testament, don't believe anything it says. Only the new testament matters... blah blah blah."

Get rid of the old testament then!

For those who argue that there aren't any morals without religion and humans need religion to be moral people and wouldn't be able to live in a moral society without religion.

Read this article that just came out - http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/20/science/20moral.html?ei=5090&en=84f902cc81da9173&ex=1332043200&partner=rssuserland&emc=rss&pagewanted=all

Can you argue that?

The brain has a genetically shaped mechanism for acquiring moral rules, similar to the neural machinery for learning language, according to Harvard evolutionary biologis Marc Hauser.
Some animals are surprisingly sensitive to the plight of others. Chimpanzees, who cannot swim, have drowned in zoo moats trying to save others. Given the chance to get food by pulling a chain that would also deliver an electric shock to a companion, rhesus monkeys will starve themselves for several days.
Biologists argue that these and other social behaviors are the precursors of human morality.

most Christians believe easter is celebration of the death and resurrection of Jesus. but few tuely know easter with all of its traditions are completely pagan. it is the holiday to worship the goodess of fertility, estarte! which is why it is called easter! but i guess those so called Christians would rather put their blindfolds back on and celebrate estarte's day, oops i guess its easter for you instead of celebrating passover and know that Jesus freed us from the bondage of sin.
