Martin Luther, a founder of fresh Western Civilization insight, nailed a piece of parchment with his thoughts upon the door of his church, thus igniting an explosion of human progress.

Today, he would be required to register and thus, would lose tax exemption if he dared to warn the masses of injustices and error.

Does our government fear free-thinking and expression?

Can a Martin Luther remain free today?

Are there any wise and honorable men who have been jailed for trying to alert others?

Who is Dick Simkanin? Who is Larkin Rose? Who is Bill Lear?

Were these men like Martin Luther?

When in Matthew 26:6-13, The Disciples thought they could have given the money for the perfume to the poor....Jesus said, "The poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have me." So it sounds like the poor are a seperate group from the disciples and Jesus. So what were they middle class or something? I know they were fishermen, tax collectors etc. but they hadn't been at their vocation for some time at this point. Did they have money saved up? What is your opinion?

Are there beliefs which disqualify a person from being a true Christian? What beliefs are essential to being a true believer?

2007-03-22 16:43:16 · 20 answers · asked by Steve 3

I need some that are short simple but very clear in meaning...
I like to write them on my arm so if anyone notices, I can show it to them and let them know that it is okay to show your beliefs, no matter what any of your "friends" say about it or call you.I like ones that give the message that all things are possible through god, or the greatest god can give you if you just put your trust in him. I am tired of kids calling this guy(patrick) a jesus freak just for bringing his bible to school and offering to pray for people..He and I are not good friends but I do not want him to go through it alone..and I want to be one of the few that shows others that it is okay to portray your faith, because what everyone has to say or call you,are just words.
Also, I have two athiest friends I am trying to help out, I don't pressure them but I don't know how to tell them that god is real and they always have some annoying rebutle to come back with. So if you have a verse 4 that, I wanna show them

This man, accepted as the father of perhaps the greatest nation in the history of the world proclaimed:

"Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor... "

Who is of good report? The little YAhoos that compose the endless little diddles and quibbles here or the one that penned:
"Bless my family, kindred, friends and country, be our God and guide this day and forever for His sake, who lay down in the grave and arose again for us, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. "

I grew up Catholic/Christian. But today I define myself not as a religion but as spiritual. Understanding to find "the source" from which I came and entering my soul through meditation. There is a whole inspirational movement - Dr Wayne Dyer, Caroline Myss among many others are presenting the modern day mystics. What is your outlook on this? I've so far found it by far awesome and working for me. I also found it interesting that through statistics many atheists can't find an argument and are understanding of this movement.

The gospel of Matthew states that the law (Torah) is to be followed by those who follow Christ. The Pauline Epistles state that ceremonial law can be done away with but moral law is to be kept. Herein lies a quite interesting contradiction, continue...

The gospel of Matthew was written some time after the death of Paul. However many Christians believe it to be the actual words of one of the disciples of Jesus (though it most likely wasn't). This of course is a later text however it seems to hold more strongly to what Jesus believed if you believe it was written by an disciple. According to this, all of the Jewish law is to remain intact.

Paul was a Christian convert from Hellenistic paganism. His goal was to convert other pagans. It makes sense that he would want to relax the laws in order to achieve this goal. However his words were actually committed to writing closer to the time of Jesus.

So which one is right? Remember, Jesus himself was a Jew who observed Jewish law.
