I grew up Catholic/Christian. But today I define myself not as a religion but as spiritual. Understanding to find "the source" from which I came and entering my soul through meditation. There is a whole inspirational movement - Dr Wayne Dyer, Caroline Myss among many others are presenting the modern day mystics. What is your outlook on this? I've so far found it by far awesome and working for me. I also found it interesting that through statistics many atheists can't find an argument and are understanding of this movement.

I completely hear where you are coming from! I have been changed by the teachings of Dr. Dyer. I have been searching for a long time for a sense of spirituality and have found it. I think now that we are all connected by this "one source" and it is such a good feeling. I recently bought his book, "Getting into the Gap" and am looking forward to practicing connecting to the source. I also bought his children's books for my neice.

Peace to you and yours.

Well, I sort of feel like religion is more tied into a church/place of worship. Although the intentions may be pure, I think church kind of turns out to be a more social, obligatory thing than a connection with God. I find myself spiritual because there is no one sect of Christianity that I completely agree with, yet I believe in the Christian God. I think spiritual is more a personal, significant connection. Relgious is more dutiful or straight-laced.

For myself I find that spiritual is the way to go. The organized religions are so mired in rhetoric and dogma that it is nearly impossible to talk with God or your understanding of God.

Religion is mans way to try and please God with rituals, rules and ceremonies.

Jesus is God's way of reaching down to man with love, grace and forgiveness.

Jesus is a personal relationship. Not a religion.
