A small minority of suicides result from altruistic decisions to sacfrifice ones life for the survival of others.
examples: the soldier who dives on a hand grenade to save his comrades lives.
the mother who elects to give birth rather than aborting her baby, knowing that she will die in the process.

Are these considered sins, and would one go to hell?
Technically they ARE killing themselves knowingly.
HELP!
im confused?
does nobility outweigh technicalities???!

Someone said earlier "Atheists come to the conclusion they do through personal experience, research, reason, and critical thinking."

But surely Ásatrú, Christians, Hindus, Muslims, Pagans and everyone else on R&S also use the very same things to arrive at their beliefs about 'Life The Universe and Everything'?

So are we not all just doing our best to figure out what it's all about? And if that's so, why not give credit where credit's due and stop all the petty bitterness? 'Cos aren't we all the same at heart?

Polite answers please! Thank you in advance.

from studying the word of God we find that God want,s one hundred percent of our lives..we are all subject to his will for our lives. and commanded to keep him first in our lives. the word of God tells us to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice holy and acceptiable unto the lord...we all seem to let the world and our desires get in between us and God, which makes for unfruitful works...do you know anyone that is fully summited to the lord in every aspect of their lives..

I have a friend Jonah who loves going out clubbing, enjoys a drink and a smoke, hes a re-born Christian, when I asked him how he rationalizes this with his faith, he said 'When I die God will pat me on the back and say Jonah I gave you a life and you lived it, thank you' Do you think sanctimonious Christians could learn something from his attitude. He is a very lovely guy.

I am seeing some pretty harsh and ignorant answers on this site. The more I see the sadder I get. Have you been able to encourage someone who isn't a believer? Have you been able to encourage anybody?

Or should we just continue to post questions and answers and allow God to do His work? I like this one. Let's come together and enlighten these lost souls. Are you with me? God Bless!!!

Has there been any protest from muslims against this atrocity?

Pakistan blast targets music, videos
(AFP)

18 March 2007

PESHAWAR - A homemade bomb in a Pakistan market damaged four music and video shops on Sunday just weeks after their owners refused an order to close down from Islamic hardliners.

Police said two people were injured in the blast at a market in Peshawar, the largest city in the deeply conservative North West Frontier Province along the border with Afghanistan.

One of the shopowners, Bashir Khan, said that hardliners calling themselves the “Soldiers of Islam” had left him a note several weeks ago, saying that music shops in the Gulshan market should close their doors.

The only religion among those religions which have common ground with Christianity&Judaism is the Islam.
Muslims strongly believe in Musa And Jesus, also in all prophets mentioned in all holly books. So which religion is the ultimate or which was the last message from Almighty God.
( I respect every body's opinion, but I think there will be no need for answers that offend any religion,i think fruitfull dialouge would be a better way to make good understandings.Thank you

It seems to me that G.W. and many other christians don't take greenhouse and climate change very seriously.
Is this because they believe that God put a finite amount of oil in the ground that would be just enough to get us through to the apocalypse?
Or is climate change a welcome sign that the end is nigh?

If jesus was proposed as a brown man as he most likely was considering the origin of the earth he was on, do you think he would have as many followers as he does today? Do you think through the racist times white people would have followed a brown jesus? Do you think Jesus is the biggest goverment cover up of the United States? Hmmm....

I have been studying the bible for many years now, alone and with my family, particularly my father. We did research on the idea of Hell and whether it exists or not (in the eternal fire and suffering sense). In every instance we found in the bible referring to eternal destruction it was either talking about the fire pits outside of Jerusalem or the destruction of human existence at the end of a person's life. I believe that the traditional view of Hell is an invented one, designed to try to scare and manipulate people to political/religious benefit.

So many tombs opened up and dead people came back to life. Supposedly they just sort of hung out for a few days doing zombie stuff until…

(Mat 27:53 NRSV) After his resurrection they came out of the tombs and entered the holy city and appeared to many.

So after the resurrection, dead people who had been hanging out in their tombs for days came walking out into the streets for everyone going about their daily lives to see.

Was Jesus a Voodoo Zombie Dude?

Becoming a Christian was a reeeeeally big deal to me, because growing up, we didn't even have a Bible in our house, until my parents split up and my mom and I moved in with my now-stepdad. Actually, just hours before I accepted Christ, I was an atheist, but I went to the lock in at my friend's church anyway, because it was a friday night and I had nothing to do. For the next 2 years, I prayed everyday, read my Bible every other day at least, was very involved in the Church I went to and listened to mainly Christian music. I never thought about slipping into any vices, and I definitely never thought about doing anything sexual. But for the past four months or so, I've felt myself slipping away from God. It's been months since I've read my Bible, and weeks since I've even attempted to pray. And lately I've tried alcohol, thought abouit drugs, and thought a LOT about sex..

I'm so afraid..

Please tell me this is normal..that a lot of Christian teens go through this?

Prayers and advice?

A Change of Clothes?
(but think of the Lord)

Tall we stand, our heads crowned with a coronet of pride.
Fully armoured we bear the weight of our protection.
A shield we carry and great store of weapons, all to protect us from another’s indiscretions.

But think of the Lord; and see wisdom.
But listen to the Lord; and know love.
But speak of the Lord; and the shackles of iniquity will fall away from your mind.

Lay down your spears of revenge and swords of anger.
Cast aside your shields of indifference.
Take off the armour of suspicion and let the blisters feel the air.
Remove the coronet of pride and reveal to the Lord the fair countenance of his creation.

But think of the Lord; and you will be eased.
But listen to the Lord; and you will be strengthened.
But speak of the Lord; and the chains that bind your heart will be broken.

Attire yourself in the cloak of justice.
Pick up the staff of truth.
Hold forth the shield of love.

But think of the Lord; and you will know fairness.
But listen to the Lord; and you will know peace.
But speak of the Lord; and you will be protected.
