A Change of Clothes?
(but think of the Lord)

Tall we stand, our heads crowned with a coronet of pride.
Fully armoured we bear the weight of our protection.
A shield we carry and great store of weapons, all to protect us from another’s indiscretions.

But think of the Lord; and see wisdom.
But listen to the Lord; and know love.
But speak of the Lord; and the shackles of iniquity will fall away from your mind.

Lay down your spears of revenge and swords of anger.
Cast aside your shields of indifference.
Take off the armour of suspicion and let the blisters feel the air.
Remove the coronet of pride and reveal to the Lord the fair countenance of his creation.

But think of the Lord; and you will be eased.
But listen to the Lord; and you will be strengthened.
But speak of the Lord; and the chains that bind your heart will be broken.

Attire yourself in the cloak of justice.
Pick up the staff of truth.
Hold forth the shield of love.

But think of the Lord; and you will know fairness.
But listen to the Lord; and you will know peace.
But speak of the Lord; and you will be protected.

Mixed reviews then.

Appreciate the constructive criticism, to those who only have angry things to say.

How sad for you that you can not accept the fellings of other people. If trying to do good things is wrong, which is what we ask to do by God, then what have you to offer outside of abuse and ridicule?

Thanks for the feed back.

Several could be best answer.
If you think it would be better with God instead of Lord, or faith instead of shield then change it and use it.

Had not intended to nick anything so appreciate the factual corrections but it was more about expressing a 'vision' if I could put it that way.

Glad somebody enjoyed it, that makes it worthwhile, have to take the brickbats as well as the plaudits. No point in asking for opinions if you only expect to get 'nice' answers.

Your analogies are inconsitent with scripture the shield is faith...
the weapon is the sword which is the Word of god etc..

Eph 6:11 Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Eph 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Eph 6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
Eph 6:15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Eph 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
Eph 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

I liked it, but it I think it still needs a bit of work. I'm not sure how, but the feel of it is not quite right although the message is good. Not that I could do any better!

You're very brave asking for opinions here considering how gratuitously insulting a lot of people in this section can be.

I think you have a talent for this kind of thing so keep at it:-)

Replace "The Lord" with humanity and common sense and I like it.

ok its fine
my only problem is the lord word
because of the many called lord in the word i just naturally prefer to talk of god if god
jesus if jesus
satan if satan
mosus if mosus
soloman if soloman
who are ye that ye call me lord?

but think of god ,and you will know life
but listen to god and that you hear truth
but speak of god and you speak love
hol;d forth gods shield of light sustaining life to love

I think you have put this question in the wrong section.... it should go in the.

"lets preach to people on yahoo answers to convert them', like that will work!!!

or

"i have no mind of my own so i will copy and paste total shite"

failing that you could put it in "wheres the question"

Dude..... the stuff you have put on here has got nothing to do with you trying to do good. If i wanted to listen to a preacher i would go to church and if you want to chat just go to a christian chat site... this is yahoo answers, not a chat site!!!!!!!!!

Another thing.... You are contradicting yourself by saying 'accept the fellings of other people' when you get upset when people on here dont agree with your view.... think before you type!!!

Desperately unoriginal in theme and old fashioned allusions to days of yore type battlefield garb and melodramatic arrogance.
It is quite the most ugly piece of tripe I have read in a long while.

Jesus had no servants, yet they called Him Master.
Had no degree, yet they called Him Teacher.
Had no medicines, yet they called Him Healer.
He had no army, yet kings feared Him. He won no
military battles, yet He conquered the world.
He committed no crime, yet they crucified Him.
He was buried in a tomb, yet He lives today.
I feel honored to serve such a Leader who loves us!
If you believe in God and in Jesus Christ His Son ....
If you ignore it, just remember that Jesus said ...
"If you deny me before man, I will deny you before
my Father in Heaven." God's Blessing is Over Flowing!

I like it. Nice imagery. I don't agree with its sentiments, of course, but it is very well written.
